Horizons found something new? :/

I just received a note on my board starts with "tip off" basic message, doesnt say who it is or from, just says go to x system x planet and xx by xx cords and get a data burst before any one else gets it.

Has anyone else had this? I have not used any of the mission boards, just been doing millatry and courier missions.

Go for it. The money is usually good. You have to fly to co-ordinates on a planet, if it is the same type I did. That takes some careful flying/orientation once you are close to the planet surface, but can be achieved quite easily once you get the hang of it.

Updated, Ok, I think im at the right cords but there is nothing here, I was told to go to lat 18.39 long 50.56, I have circled the area atm im at from top to bottom on hud 18.02,50.60, there is a blue circle in the area but cant see anything on the ground from ship

The blue circle indicates there is something of interest there.
Take a landing spot, and have a gander around in the SRV.

It seems to me like ED is a very "process-oriented" game with most if any "goals" being short-term. The game will try to "push" you to do different things and explore different aspects of the game in order to help you progress for instance, missions for building early credit. More missions plus mining plus trade and combat to progress with Engineers. The "Tip Off" missions are, IMO a way for the game to "push" new players out of the small, comfortable bubble around their starting base. A "goal-oriented" way to catch an Exploring or Salvage or Combat bug.

The tip-off target is usually exactly on the coordinates, so worth trying to get to the exact spot. Also, there was some confusion recently when they reversed the in-game coordinates, and (I think) then changed them back. It could be worth trying them in reverse.

Tip off experiences.

Confusion over coordinates, reversed, supposedly fixed.

Description for location is misleading, on purpose or not, IDK.

When you reach site and attempt to scan, scan fails to reveal anything.

Someone else may have had no issues. Not worth the trip to me, I ignore them.

Just to note:
Yes, tip off's can be somewhere bugged (at least sometimes), but also one must remember that they are not really persistent - i.e. maximum 2 weeks lifetime (can be respawned later at the same coordinates, but not guaranteed).

Let me guess, is the planet Nguna 1?

Check the coordinates again.
Did you miss a minus sign, either in the message or on your HUD?
(I've done that  )
