Equatorial cannonball run

Doh! Forgot to include the shot of 'The Rings of Beagle' - Now visible from space (assuming space is less than about 100m above the surface)

Thanks Cmdr. Spent the night wandering the ship.....I think I may have developed mild agoraphobia

Epic (and somewhat crazy) achievement! Congratulations.

Appreciate it Cmdr.

I hear rumours of other planets in this system which need rings built [wacky]

So the first response went:
I have reviewed both incidents. It seems to me that in both cases, you are travelling at high speeds (110 km/h and 130 km/h respectively) and collide with the ground at too steep an angle. The SRV's suspension can't take the impact and your hull is damaged as a result. Your SRV is already damanged and you are killed.

But I wrote back to ask about the 'death value' and got:
Having had a look into this death for you it appears that your death was registered as the mysterious Type 6 again! I'll make a note to have a look into this :)

So I rolled an impossible 6, twice :)
Reckon I deserve an engineering upgdate to the buggy - little raise in the ride height maybe, tad more power and top speed. Let's go circumnavigate again and try to beat the record!

Day 73; End position 0/180.000, Distance today 870km, Cumulative total 7990km, Completed: 100%

I'm sure the bands were playing as I crossed the finish line - just couldn't hear them due to the vacuum...

The final few seconds - no quite perfect co-ordinates :(

For old times sake, I thought I'd pull up the start and end points together;

Start

Finish

If you look closely, the features are actually the same. One could almost believe those tracks there are the ones I put down at the start [yesnod]
What is interesting (and correct) is the fact the galaxy is now in front, where it was not at the start; just goes to show the whole system is indeed in motion....how much do you love this game?

It's nice to finally be out of that buggy!

Loving the new threefer materials - two metallic meteorites, 6 poloniums :) Then some Niobium and whole bunch of this stuff (15) - assume it must be important for something?

Brilliant. Yes, I love this game a lot.

Congratulations on completing an epic journey.

You'll never want to use the SRV again now though :D

Thanks for the encouragement along the way o7

Ew SRV, That's what I thought, but....
In the time I spent bumbling around the ground, it turns out a nifty feature was added - the materials available. Suddenly, ice worlds are worth a scan, and when I found niobium on one not far from BP, I landed

I think it is safe to say it was worth it;

But....since then....can't...stop....jonking.. :D

I feel for you. Good luck! How many miles to go?

I had to laugh soo hard when I read this ... [haha]

Hi Disorganise,

I have been away in RL from playing ED and visiting these forums but came on today to find you have completed this mad adventure. Well done! This must rank as an enormous achievement and I hope FD or the community immortalise it in some way. It certainly deserves it! Now you need to do it in reverse, of course . . . .

Hah, just found out about this one. Nice work!

I wonder how many other people have joined the "circumnavigated a planet in an SRV" club? There can't be that many of us...

Well don't keep us in suspense!
Where, when, how long, do you have a journal to link to? :D

My guess is counting the both of us.....2. 3 including Cmdr Felix Macedonica who gave it a good go before unfortunately having to bail out before completing.

That's OK - I can take the shame of failure. Anything is better than sitting in that damn SRV cockpit!

Seriously, though, do tell - we might be able to form a trio of hardy SRVeers . . . because that is a thing now, right?

I’m thinking about trying it, but on some small undiscovered potato world, not something as large as Beagle 2! I figure a small sub 500km radius world should take somewhere around 45 hours to circumnavigate. That’s a lot of time, but I think it sounds like a fun challenge. I’ve been keeping my eyes out for a sweet colorful undiscovered tiny rocky ice world closely orbiting something large with rings along my travels, maybe one will sing out to me!
