I am disappointed...

I am very disappointed in the Elite Dangerous exploration community.

I'm trying to complete a passenger delivery mission. My longest trip yet, thank you very much: 12,000 Ly each way to Blue Hypue QI-Z D1-4516. Apparently this is called 'the Holy Twins', and my passengers are paying me good money to get them there. And despite my best intentions, I keep running into the same thing, over and over.

I jump into a star system, intent on scooping and jumping to the next quickly so I can make good time. And instead of finding the star system nicely discovered by someone, more often than not I find the system has never been explored! This terrible lack of completion and effort is costing me hours and hours of extra effort to scan and discover stars, planets... you name it.

What is wrong with you people? Don't you know that some of us are busy and have jobs to do? Geez...

TL;DR: junior explorer travels, finds things to discover, laughs at self for occasionally wishing there were fewer things to explore

Happy New Year, folks! :)

April fools is months away dude

Hah! True- but when I realized I was getting mildly frustrated because I had all this explorin' to do I started laughing at myself. It felt like a good time to take a break and post, regardless of calendar ;)

OCD can be a pain, especially so for an explorer :)

I'm struggling... I only have a couple of days of 'free' time over the holiday break to complete this trip: normally it would take me weeks at my '1-2 hours per day' pace. So I think I'll have to switch to just pretending all the systems are discovered on the return trip, lest I never get home.

Don't............open..............the................system...............map..............just............honk..........scoop..............boot..........

I know but you can't do that can you? It's ok, I can't either :p

I'm trying to do as you say, SpaceMonkeyz, but it is so hard to stop myself. I mean, maybe I'll just take a quick peak at the system map, that won't hurt... ack, none of the objects in this system have been discovered, not even the primary! NOooooooOOoo... ;)

I've managed to stop myself from scanning much more than the objects within 1000 Ls of the entry. But even doing that turns a 60 second jump-scoop-jump sequence into a three + minute scan. And that turns 700 minutes of travel into 2,100 minutes, and now we are talking actual big numbers.

My wife is already grumbling about 'that stupid space game'. So if you jump into a system somewhere around the Eagle nebula with only the primary 'discovered' by AgingGamer- you can blame my wife... and the lazy explorers who didn't discover the system before I got there [haha]

Ha Ha!
The explorer who gave this location to Mr M Brookes a few months ago (with many other entries for passenger mission locations) obviously came there by another route.

The feeling you have to scan "all of the things" is totally understandable, but there are too many systems... you will never do it all.

Best to just do the mission and just jump/honk on the way.

For your own sanity [noob]

But when you are out there in the black for long periods of time, sanity is very very dangerous......

It sounds like a joke but I'm not sure.

I'm not sure if I would classify my post as a 'joke', but it was funny to me. It happened more or less like this- I jumped into a system and noticed it was (yet again) not discovered, and I thought "jeez, all these unexplored systems are really slowing me down. Where are all the explorers?" Then it hit me how silly it was to think that, and then I started to laugh at myself. My laptop was nearby, and so the post was born :)

Thanks OP for making me laugh. Repped.

Laughter is good for all of us. Too much serious stuff, too many things to worry about- so you are most welcome, because I needed to laugh too!
