Horizons degration of integrity

Hello fellow Cmdr's

I have been working on my ASP-X for an exploration trip. So most mods aimed at light weight. I have read in another thread that integrety degrades during a journey just like the paintjob does. I never thought about that and I am not certain about the consequences. At which point may a degraded integrety become dangerous? And does the percentage of the modules tell me anything about the integrity?
I may have to reconsider my build...

Integrity is a modifier to hull strength and the protection it offers. When it reaches zero, the "hitpoints" of your hull are reduced quite significantly, and your modules are also less protected from attacks. The value effectively only matters for combat or collisions.

integrity isn't integrity.

integrity of ship: reduces your armour. no effect for exploration, if you don't plan to go into a fight upon return

integrity of moduls = "hit points" - nearby all damage taken while exploring is % damage (heat, running into a star...).

so, you'll be as fine with a ligthweightbuild as with any other.

sure about that? afaik collision damge is raw damage?
My understanding was that integrity is basically a global multiplier on general "damage resistance", but TBH I'm not enough into long-range combat to really have bothered with details, so I just regard integrity as irrelevant.

yeah, I'm also not into that thing ... testing of armour modification and integrity for exploration is still on my list ...

Integrity is the simulation of micro fractures/hull weakening over prolonged use (Primarily caused by supercruise). Not really an issue for explorers, unlike in the real world, hull weakening is capped at a max of 30% degradation, it will never result in a catastrophic failure.

For example - Hull is at 100%, integrity has capped at 0%, your true hull strength is 70%

If you are a bit worried, dock at a quiet remote port at the edge of the bubble when you return, perform maintenance before you head deep into populated space.
