The only real issue I have with Lakons is the lack of a Cob MK IV comparison ship. The closest is the ASP-E which I'm working towards.
And that you can usually get a better (on paper at least) Faulcon DeLacy ship in the small size/class for cheaper.

I've given you a rep for spelling Faulcon DeLacy correctly.

Just wanted to say ' I've recently downsized from the Asp Ex' to the Asp Scout, and am very satisfied as she suits MY needs as a mission board runner far better than the ol' Asp E, witch I found had more than enough cargo capacity that I did not utilise.

ps. just wish I could personalise her more than just the one chrome paintskin.

Not gonna lie. Buying a Type-6 was probably my first real goal in Elite. Something about boxy ships that haul well really sells to me in just about any spaceship game. I now have a Cutter for heavy hauling, and I still find an excuse to break out the Type-6 every once in a while. Moves quick enough, has tons of internals for versatility, and I even used to pick off the odd pirate with its puny guns. Usually it rocks an exploration outfit, which I may need to get improved further now that I have more engineer access, but I have used it for just about everything.

Lately, I have been putting a lot of time into the Asp Scout. Something about it just gels with me. Handles super well, and I am about to push its capabilities with engineer help to see what all it can do. Just wish it had a little something other than maneuverability over the Asp Explorer.

I also really wish the Type-9 had something to sell it over the Cutter, because I honestly like its looks better. I also never thought it was really challenging to handle. Yeah, it is slow and not very agile, but the acceleration and deceleration were surprisingly responsive, and the positioning of the cockpit made it really easy to line up with the airlock. Tempted to buy one to mod the crap out of it when I have the money again, just to see what happens. Type-9 race, anyone?

Sounds like I just cannot get away from a good Lakon for long.

The Asp Explorer is a wonderful ship: Good all-rounder: Decent trader, pretty good miner and awesome explorer.
The DBX is OK if you can't afford an Asp.
The T9 is an awesome trader: A license to print money, but outfit it properly first: It can't run & can't fight, so it needs to tank long enough for you to jump away.
The Keelback makes an adequate miner, though a bit small on cargo space. I suppose you could trade with it too.
The T6 is horrible, but the T7 is even worse: A flying mausoleum. Steers like a house, blows up when startled, not enough power to do anything but overheat.

I think the Keelback will be a cult favorite in the long run - people who are willing to invest the time to engineer it up will find it a hell of a lot of fun as an all-rounder, especially when the new hull buff hits. Honestly if it had just one more small slot it would be perfect, in my opinion.

As for the T6, well, what you say is true, but it's also one of the best budget explorers out there. I got 95% of my Elite rank from a T6, then switched to the Keelback (with a Roleplay story of it being the same ship, but modfied with KB parts ;) )

I love the Lakon ships.
They are rugged, all round ships
with a superb cockpit design.
Heck i even enjoy the DB-series
more than any CoreDynamics build i ever saw.

My love is with the D-Bags and the KB.
Faulcon can go home with his abysmally flat ships
that never ever heard of the word "yaw" or
module protection before.

I've owned and flown the AspX for ages, and will continue to do so. Lakon has some of the best viewing canopies in the business.

But my true love is Saud Kruger! dingFWOOOOOSH!

Lakon have arguably the best view from the cockpit. However, interiors are just horrid. Absolutely depressing. That's the only reason I don't own any of their ships. Apart from that they're lovely crafts indeed :)

I'm an absolute Lakon fanboy and I couldn't agree more with any of this.

The Diamondback Scout is an excellent small ship for fighting, and while it's not particularly tanky, you get the speed of a Viper Mk.III with the agility of a Vulture, plus, four utility mounts!

The Diamondback Explorer is what finally got me out of an Asp, while yea, the Asp is brilliant, there's only so long you can listen to a turboprop engine (or mechanical fart noises, depending on perspective) before it drives you absolutely insane. Plus, the DB-X makes a surprisingly awesome stealth 'bomber', loading it up with cannons or similar hull-busting weapons and it's scary effective as a strike ship. Plus, they both have outstanding heat efficiency, and I've found an exploration-fitted DB-X to be almost impossible to overheat from fuel-scooping (it IS possible, you just have to try really damned hard), and the DB-S has that same 'issue'.

However, my pride and joy is my Type-9, and, especially with the new headphones sound design, the boost rumble is by far one of the best bits of sound engineering in the game. Add in the ability to launch fighters, and it's definitely a mainstay ship.

There's also something to be said about the joy of flying the Keelback, especially with a fighter in tow.

Wanted to ask... What song would you say would be a good anthem for Lakon?
