ED ranked 29th on 50

It's interesting how the games industry is turning into Hollywood - I read through the list and every one was a sequel or "re-imagining" of some form (ED included, of course).

Where are the next utterly original ideas going to come from?

**Regarding Star Citizen not being on list**To be fair I dont think it should be, its too far off yet imo.

Next year we may see it on such a list.

Good to see ED, a PC exclusive which is a new version of a game which was very UK centric trading blows very well with the world wide multiformat big boys.

If you filter just on PC games, it's 16th.

Also, Star Citizen nowhere on the list

It's not going to be released until 2042 or something.

(Apologies to SC backers - cheep shot - What the effect of your main game engine developer going/close to being bust is going to be I've no idea.

Apart from loads of employee's now having to scrabble for work in what would appear to be a highly competitive industry - thoughts go to those guys.)

As for OP - Kudos to FD, one and all, looks like the game is moving in the right direction and will be something people, other than us forty somethings want to play.

The list had BF Flatline as the 2nd most anticipated. Wow, really? I'll be surprised if that game outsells Medal of Honour.

Nice list. Not seeing much competition to take away the time from Elite Dangerous. Especially since I only do the PC. :D

Dragon Age Inquisition will be the other game sucking my life away this year. And it's looking like that and E: D will be releasing around the same time.

Far Cry 4, Witcher 3 and Civilization: Beyond Earth (which has dropped from the list) are the only games beside E: D that interest me at the moment. But how much they interest me when they are released?

There are plenty of original ideas out there it's just that they're harder to market. If I say DOOM 5, more people are going to click the link than FLURB WAR 9000. Human nature.

Yea, I've played Simcity, Dragon age 2, Battlefield 4 and Mass Effect 3 over the last 2 years. DA: Inq is soooo much a wait-and-see game for me. I have very little interest in it right now.

So, are you saying Crytek is going bust? Where have your seen this?

Many of the games on that list will be eagerly anticipated until they come out, played for a couple of days and then discarded. Far Cry 3 was a great game to play through, but once you've taken over the island you're done. E : D should have much greater longevity.
