More shots from different angles will provide enough information to do a 3D rendering of the object inside the cockpit. Looks kind of Thargoidy to me.
Another thought looking at the videos again:
The ship has a round "crater" at the central rear.
Would a UA fit in there?
How would the ship look with the UA attached to the back?
Is the UA as some theorized an ejected hyperdrive module?

I'm not saying it's Thargoid for sure.
I just think it's behavior is compatible with what I would expect from a Thargoid. I does not look Thargoid to me, even if it has an eight fold symmetry.
Thargoid or not, I don't think it's the same bunch we ran into the last time. Perhaps a different culture, perhaps a totally different species?
Things that say Thargoid:
- Eight fold symmetry
- Hyperspace interdiction
- Interest in ammonia world
- Interest in the Pleiades
- Knowledge of our system names and Morse code
Things that say not Thargoid:
- Visual appearance
- They seem healthy and have functioning hyperdrives
Yes. Easily found a UA last night, it was the first USS I saw upon arriving in the shell (maybe I was just lucky, though). System was Aries Dark Region ON-T c3-9 and the USS was close to the main star.
Haven't tried looking for a UP yet though.
I just had my first contact. I was jumping from Maia to Pleiades Sector TJ-Q b5-0. Didnt' have any UA with me, but I lost one recently due to cargo bay decay. Tried to scan the alien "ship" cargo but it was too fast and I couldn't catch up. Wake scan revelaed nothing but some new data called "Unknown Wake". I was 32.44 ly from merope and I dropped 19.151ls from the main star in Pleiades Sector TJ-Q b5-0.

I will try to force another contact later and gather more data. I will bring a faster ship to try to scan it's cargo.

Lots and lots of Drives.... makes me think a scout, a long range Explorer or fast recon unit.. that could be civilian or military.
Hell why reinvent the wheel let's just call it a U.F.O. and roll with it because that's just what it is.
The visual appearance is updated from the original Elite. The ship is the same as the Thargoid scout vessel at the alien ruins.
Yes, the "yellow dots" being pulled from the interdicted ship are quite noticeable. Could it perhaps be that these are "Guardians" and they are removing traces of UA contamination from the interdicted ships? That would be a strong indicator of friendly intent!
When your systems shut down is Life Support cut? Does your emergency oxygen kick in?
Shutting down your ship with the exception of LS does seem to indicate a certain level of care that should be seriously considered. I wouldn't go Saber rattling just yet... way too premature... like grade schooler picking a fight with high school senior premature.

Scout... So maybe this is a relatively small vessel, and there are bigger ones?!
afaik it's basically same effect as if you honk UP. no emergency life support.

if someone with an UP is close by and quick enough to do it, try dropping an UP before the scout jumps out of the system see if the UP's EMP disables it, worth a shot?

I did note how it, to me, looks as though it hits you with the scan and the lights are the information returning to it. Just a more visual representation of our scanners possibly.
The scan looks awesome! It initially blasts the ship with a pulse of yellow light and then you can see all of the light returning back to the alien ship, bringing all the information with it.
I whould add to that list that youre ship gets really cold when hyperdicted.
