It's true. Temperature is a property of matter. No matter, no temperature.

To quickly draw heat from an object in vacuum means transferring it to another object, like a heat sink.

Other than that only net radiation will determine if the temperature of a passive object in vacuum, rises or falls.

Our ships constantly produces heat and needs active heat vents. These work by converting surplus heat into radiation(infrared light).

Technology that actively draws heat from another object is beyond us, even in Elite. These girls are up to some impressive stuff.

Well, yawn. Should've reminded myself about the times I've wasted before the altar of RNG
- Not finding UA convoys
- Not finding UP convoys
- Trying to meet up with the "The hunt" participants
- Trying to find new UAs
- Trying to find any of the unregistered probes
- Trying to make Walker Survey fail with UA bombing (GG all; it's impossible)

... before embarking tonight. 4 hours and over 100 jumps later...
- No UAs found in the shell (after 1 hour looking + jumping around, 5 USS found, my normal UA farming system)
- No UPs found near ammonia planets in pleiades sector (after 1 hour, 4 USS found, have found UPs at this planet before)
- No jumping thanks to transaction errors for 1 hour.
- 90 minutes of economic jumping between reported hyperdiction locations, with no encounters.

What a waste of time...

Why didnt you go to a known crash site and pick up a UA with a SRV ?

To add to the current knowledge:

I just had my second encounter, I was NOT carrying a UA at the time. I was jumping from Pleiades Sector LX-U d2-25 to Pleiades Sector ZA-N b7-1 but was pulled out in the system that I was jumping from (same happened on my first encounter).

Sadly, like a numpty I pressed the wrong button and failed to secure the video evidence. I am shame.

Got a nice shot of the alien cockpit though, even through the distortion field:

Can't make out anything pilot shaped, unless the pilot is a big round blob that kinda looks a bit like the head of a UA...

The thing in the cockpit looks more like a UP to me.

I was going to, but no UPs showed up, so I thought I'd try UAs, just to since they usually almost always spawn within 15 minutes. When they didn't spawn, I thought maybe I was onto something.

Anyways. Got hyperdicted trying to leave Merope (was literally about to go to bed, thanks to my whinge post for stopping that)

They don't fight back Didn't even come close to knocking a single ring off though.

Alliance base-building CG goes through, aliens appear the next day. Perhaps they are looking for NPC Alliance ships to stop/monitor the population of the California Nebula, and are just pulling us out by accident. Either way we should keep a close eye on the Alliance, this coincidence combined with their history with Thargoids is making me reach for the tin foil.

The video of the Courier accidentally ramming it is interesting.
It didnt hit very hard, but there was no bounce, no shields going down before exploding, nothing.
1 Frame the ship is fine, the next, it is dead

Looks like the ship is the proverbial irresistible force AND immovable object (scripted)

People have, seems to be no change and I think all the unknown permit systems were checked and were still locked

I think it is simply the "head" of the ship which is a single living entity on its own.

Dont countto much on that It has just around 250Mj of shield and i rammed him with around 750m/s

It’s not just around Maia. Last night I was 6000 lys out from Jaques heading back for the bubble and I too thought every one of my hyperspace jumps had much more yellow and orange in it than usual. Like a highly noticeable amount more. I’ve not been pulled out of witchspace yet up around Colonia, but hyperspace itself does seem….different.

Ungrounded, single observation theory time:

The unknown ship that hyperdicted me jumped out toward polaris. It was pretty close to that direction but the wake faded before I could line it up 100% and take a nice screen shot. Before anyone goes nuts with this I'd like more people to try to observe what direction the ship jumps out, it will either jump the same way every time or this is a nice coincidence. If anyone could observe this one way or another and either message me or post it I'd appreciate it.

My first thought was wrong (maybe)
I started to think why they're not shooting us into the void of space.
We destroyed their Hyperdrives with the Myoid Virus, BUT they've been cured (by humans).

Maybe they're only here to warn us?
Without the cure they wouldn't be able to travel with their FSDs and we're all able to see, that the cure had a positive effect.
Let's pray for a peaceful future!
