Lurker putting in my 2 cents, anybody tried honking at a UP after regaining control of the ship? Scott Manley gets a honk off before it jumps out. If someone was REAL quick.. Worth testing?

I think people have (or are) trying everything imaginable.

Another thought is this:
- we are interdicted during a jump.
- our ship is scanned for some reason.
- for whatever reason, the alien vessel takes no action.
But:
- there were preview videos of the same vessel around wreckage.

So, maybe the trick is to try to follow an NPC carrying something cool in that region?

Yes, but the crashed alien ships and these things have loads parts in common. It is quite likely that these are the same ships.

I'd say about 99%.

I had a very good look at the original crash site back in the day, and the points where the 'wings' connect to the 'hull' are clearly visible. Most of the wings are snapped off, but one is still roughly in place except the inner tip has been driven through the 'hull' by the impact and it's been knocked off from it'a correct angles.

I noticed this in the hyperspace graphics from the first couple of vids and kept an eye out when I set off from the bubble. All was completely normal when I set off so I assumed it was just a difference between Xbox and PC at first. However, the Orange/Yellow mottling crept in as I got nearer to the sites of the first reported encounters. I went to the Aries Dark Sector one first, tried a few systems around there then got ganked. I then headed to the Pleiades and the same thing happened with the change in the hyperspace colouring - normal when I set out in the bubble and the Orange/Yellow mottling coming in as I moved towards the Pleiades.

Well that’s super interesting. If the hyperspace discoloration is happening with proximity to the Pleiades, then why am I seeing it out in the neutron fields near Colonia?

Maybe they are out here too…

well if their upset about meta alloys they don't seem to care about us carrying them ;)

Have some in the hold and the script played out the same as every other commanders.

Maybe they're everywhere...

Except the bubble...

Would be interesting to know what other cmdrs are seeing.

Yeah...I noticed the discoloration too. Not as dramatic as in the videos, but definately different. I am in between Colonia and the bubble.

then we should use the power of VR!

A guy on Reddit a week or so ago was able to use OpenVR or something to move his play space out of his ship so he could record inside of his T-9's corridors and outside of his ship whilst jumping.

Could probably do the same thing with the encounter to move the playspace outside the ship to look behind during the encounter.

I'd do it myself but I have no idea how it works.

Between yesterday and today, more than 7hs jumping, with UA, MA, fast/economic jumps, all over the Pleiades, AD Region, all the systems that people are posting here, everything, still nothing. Im getting tired of this [mad]

So do we currently think that the orange mottling is witchspace is related to the ship?

Not enough data at the moment, I'd say. Current limited data says no. (Mottling increases moving out of the bubble towards the Pleiades. Pleiades == Encounters. Mottling also in Colonia. Colonia not= encounters. Possible interpretations - it's about being in and out of the bubble - something else in common between Pleiades area and Colonia - observational error. Or it could be related to the ship but there's not been any encounters in Colonia reported yet)

Perhaps the intensity of the discolouration relates to the chance of a winterdiction?
