Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Been looking through more frames of video and beginning to doubt this - it looks clear in video but finding clean stills is hard, so much motion blur as the pattern stretches wide as the camera moves. Is it changing over time or is it the same pattern? Maybe someone can concentrate on getting nice clean, stable video of this?

For instance this still makes it look like a few repeating II lines of different heights. Thoughts? Ideas?

I also don't have much time to look at this over the weekend so if someone better at this could pick it up and kick it around a bit, that would be great.

Anyone had a chance to disprove this yet?
This is what I am seeing roughly

Obviously it is moving, but the pattern looks stable... or am i just seeing cloud animals?

Hello Cannons, havnt been here in a long time, because so many pages to read and not lot of time, what are your thought about this close encounter? Do there is a kind of ROE to approach that thing if encountered?
Did Rizal tried to analize the audio of the encounter yet?
My personal opinion that this is just a cinematic to attract people again to the game, but we are not going to see something new, or a Alien war anytime soon, but I hope to be wrong.
What you guys think?

Thanks

Read the first post :D

My thought is it's a way of getting unknown scans to be analysed by one of the engineers in a CG and then maybe they'll combine their results with Ram Tah.

So, for science, we need someone carrying UA (to get interdicted), UP, Soontil Relics, whatever else there is you can acquire these days (I don't know what there is) and get scanned.

Either nothing will happen (which is my hunch - it's just an introduction, not an actual scan ... yet) or events will unfold for the (un)lucky commander (not confident it'll change anything, but it's technically plausible).

What we got in the vicinity by way of stock of things?

Longtime lurker.

Here is the best quality video I have found so far about the winterdiction. It is also useful as the CMDR used the classified camera to capture the alien ship's jump sequence.

Tinfoil hat on:
If you zoom in while the video is playing you can make out some details the screenshots attached below might not show all that well.
- I agree that there is something odd about the lens flares during the scan. They're discrete lines and dots, not at all what you would normally see. It does look like a barcode.

- You can clearly see the same green tentacle looking things that surround you during the scan reach in front of the ship to open a tear in space.

- You could almost make out what is inside of the tear. It looks to me like there are other ships there. It is hard to say for sure since there is definitely a gravitational lensing effect to the image.

Wild theory: the ship is jumping to witchspace / alternate dimension (similar to original game lore) that is unaccessible to us through our technology. This area potentially is being used as a staging area. Maybe the hidden code in this teaser cutscene points to how to get there? I'm starting to think looking for places within our galaxy is futile. I assuming the Thargoids are to be found in our dimension may be futile, as all we will find is the probes and devices they are using to connect to ours.

Ok, been a long time since I've even been in game, but with everything going on in the last 24 hours I've been following things closely. Someone made an interesting post on Facebook just a little while ago...

Anyone else notice that after you run into thargoids your pilots hands start to change like they were infected by some virus?

Hmm...anyone noticing anything strange on this point?

I think I've decoded it.

It says "Sorry"

These Aliens are obviously Canadian :D

Not a conclusive case, but worth keeping an eye on. For it to actually be planting barnacles it would need to be close to a planet, wouldn't it?

Regardless I'm hoping more high-res screenshots will show up catching the phenomenon so we can get a better look at that possible insignia.

PS: I like your username and profile pic, ExoForce was a favorite of mine when they were being sold. :D

Look behind the alien.

It rolls towards Anaconda.
What you're seeing is this distant galaxy:

being distorted by the wake of the ship. That's why it only appears in one video.

I think I must be out of the loop or something but this looks like a normal lens flare.

Personally, I think we just need to have the right thing on board our ship. Either a particular kind of passenger of a particular rare (not necessarily one related to existing alien studies).

This is my opinion. At some point, somebody will have the right something and something different will happen. It's pretty clear to me that they're "looking" for something by checking passers by, if you will, as there's no control given to us, short of rattling off a few shots which make no effect on the shields. I'm tempted to try five torpedoes though....

I'm honestly getting tired of this getting buried, but I've suggested this twice now. My Cobra came very very close to catching it and some guy in an Eagle was WAY faster than the ship, but for some reason he decided to just spin around instead of flying through the space hole.
I know that it is extremely likely that nothing will happen if you go through it, but still.

Im doing this now... i have my Cobra Mk3 which ive engineered up to the eyeballs. she is my fastest ship.

But ive been roaming around Pleiades space for hours now with no interdictions. i have a UA onboard and a corrosion proof cargo rack.

Inside the cockpit looks like a UP, I have the screenshot but don't know how to post it from iPhone

You'll need to host it on some file sharing site, share it, and post the url here inside url [/ img] tags

icloud may work, I don't know as I don't use it.
