Corrosion resistant cargo racks

So you buy a 8t corrosion resistant cargo rack... To go along side your 8t standard one.

You pick up a UA or UP, what does the game do? Automatically assumes it's in the resistant one? And if you pickup up 7 more? And then if you pick up a 9th one?

Does it basically just assume UAs/UPs go in the corrosive resistant slots? And it's not until you've filled those up and started using normal cargo space that it then causes damage to your ship?

I don't think you can buy a corrosion resistant cargo rack bigger than 2 tons. If you can I'd like to know where. And I don't know how it prioritises the spaces.

I presume you can hold a number of UA/UPs equivalent to the number of cargo space in your corrosion-resistant cargo racks. If the number of UA/UPs in the hold exceeds the space available in the corrosion-resistant cargo racks, deal damage over time as normal to the cargo hatch.

There are only 2t crcr's available. By personal experience, it seems UA/UP get sorted automatically. Was collecting UA's to test with around Jaques with only 2t cargo space left (120 tons loaded), did pick up 2 UA's - no corrosion. The UA's where then dropped and scooped multiple times with or without anything else loaded, they never corroded.

Feeding the Thargoids: Corrosion Resistant Cargo Racks ?

I'm planning to feed a few UAs to the Thargoids (they apparently take the UAs during the hyperdiction).
But they're pretty toxic things to carry.
i picked up a couple from the Alien crash site but the SRV has taken a bit of a hit just driving back to my AspX.

I've heard Palin stocks the corrosion resistant cargo racks, but I don't have an invite and I thought Palin was one of the hardest engineers to get and to level up.

What do I need to know here?

How much of a difference does carrying a UA make to your chances of meeting a Thargoid?

Palin is locked behind 2 other engineers.

I was interdicted by an alien without a UA on board shortly after leaving an alien crash ship site.

Okay, I had a reliable report that they did grab a UA - can anyone confirm that they do sometimes take the UAs.
Maybe they've got enough and we've reached that trigger.

Anyways still not in game yet (big weekend involving chainsaw and palm trees) but I've got a hold full of ancient artefacts from the ruins - has anyone else been hyperdicted with those?

Guess the real question is: Do they steal cargo?

And if so will Gluttony accept them in The Code.

If I remember correctly before Palin disappeared there was a CG to bring him some alien stuff. I am not sure but I think the CG reward gave out 2t and 4t maybe 8t corrosion resistant cargo racks.

Is there some alt-route? Like if I travel half a dozen kylies and turn up with a dozen roses and some Lavian Brandy? I hear it's a good leg opener "if it doesn't work use a crowbar"

Is this a thing? I didn't take part because there was no way to do so without shooting barnacles/UA (I forget which)

Unique items? Is this genuinely a thing? I've never heard of an item available through a CG that couldn't be obtained another way. Can you give examples?

And to clarify was an 8t (or 4t) corrisive resistant rack available for participating in the CG and is now not available any other way?

Levelling up Palin has no relevance: You just need to unlock them and they will then sell the 2t racks to you.

The cited cargo racks are the only physical example I can think of (and they were later made available through Palin, too), although there was also a 30% ship discount one.

But in order to get Palin, you need to first unlock Elvira, level her up to Grade 3-4 in order to unlock Marco Qwent, then rank HIM up to Grade 3-4 in order to even unlock Palin in the first place, correct? If so, that's a ton of work. I have no desire to rank either of these engineers up. It's a shame, because I'd really like to have these Cargo Racks so I can transport hazardous materials safely.
