OK so every so now an again these wasocks bag an unsuspecting customer (is that like an orgasm for these idiots?) but I gotta ask FD: What is the point in allowing these fools the mechanics (or absence thereof) to just generally inconvenience players and spoil the ED experience?

Because not everyone is GunnerBill, and some of those non-GunnerBills may like different things than you. Like playing in Open and fighting other players. You dont have to agree with that, you can go to solo, but you shouldn't whine about other players getting a chance of their idea of fun too.

Well, you did select open mode, which will contain jerks like that. The game allows them to act like jerks, who will think they're clever or good or whatever in the process, so that's how they'll act. It's disappointing that some people feel that that's how they have to behave, using (abusing?) others to derive their pleasure, but some people are like that hey.

If NPCs decide to attack you with no reason, it's annoying to and brings no fun to the game.
Why should it be a different thing when a few jerks in a wing want to blow you up just for fun.

I always play in Mobius or solo, I am not interested in open pvp because these fights are mostly unbalanced.

I bet if FD brings up an official "Mobius"-Mode with different pvp rules (Duell mode like most other MMOs) ,many player would choose it over the open pvp mode.

Correct but it seems like you are suggesting that anyone who ventures into Open deserves or should expect a ganking. Sort of like getting diarrhoea if you visit somewhere horrid for holidays? I'm pretty sure FD didn't implement Open with that kind of thing in mind.

Also take a moment to enjoy a cmdr flying a corvette claiming to be 'ganked'. Poor elite/founder Corvette, oh-so-helpless after chosing Open himself. Why should other people be able to play the way they want. If any system ever needed harsh C&P to protect the poor beginners in their sidewinders it is at the jameson memorial.

Agree. But I'd like to add that the only reason he survived in the first place, is the fact that he owns a ship that can survive such an encounter. The best I can afford at the moment is an Asp and I can't survive a single FdL for more than a few seconds, let alone two of them. High-waking impossible. This complete lack of consequences for the ganker together with the no-more-existance of any balance has driven me away from open, which I personally find very sad, because a game like Elite Dangerous just doesn't really make sense to me in solo. At the moment I'm considering Mobius, still thinking about it.

A cmdr should always be attentive and expecting to be attacked by AI, aliens and cmdrs. It doesnt always happen, very rarely even, but its your job to prepare and deal with it. Preferably without logging. You also didnt get 'ganked', thats not how you call 'being attacked while in my corvette'. Running out of ammo isnt an Act of God, you shot that ammo. So now you've learned not to shoot all your ammo but always keep some, plus an SCB, for the way home.

Or log. Whatever fits your idea of Elite better.

I fly a hmble Cobra, and I can survive. I only play Open. Maybe it isn't the ship?

This. It saved Elite Dangerous for me. The game is so very much more enjoyable without gankers looking to ruin your day, it makes playing Elite so much more pleasant.

If Frontier ever allows NPC pilots to fly the FDL fully engineered to the hilt then even Mobius will be in trouble, heh.
