Added new military slots to the following ships:- Did you say MILITARY?

i am intrigued to see just what the new slots hold or if its only SCB and hull and module replacement therapy patches. personally i would be all for trader mods slots like these for the T9, its in need of a cargo boost seeing as its supposed to be the quintessential bulk traders trade ship (but let down by cargo hold lol)

Outfitting (& combat in general) in Elite Dangerous is starting to feel like the taxation system in the UK.

You can have this, but then if you do this, we'll take that, unless you have this in which case you can be allowed twice that, but only if you don't do this, in which case we'll then remove half of that.... But... If... Only... Then of course it's halved... All clear?

And next year, it'll have a few more ifs and buts ontop again...

I feel that the inability to repair hulls makes hull tanking for pve combat grinding purposes always kind of a bad idea. But then ive not experimented with it, it just seems like thats how it would go down trying to farm a CZ. Though maybe you are intended to fit a shield anyway to absorb those odd stray shots that hit you when things arent really that bad, and the hull acts as something to deal with the serious situations.
I bought a chrome gunship skin in preparation for the patch, ill see how it goes after i finish my exploration loop.

New patch i wonder if the rift clues are re-enabled? Im kind of in that direction, may have to make a detour.

Any idea why the FDL didn't get a military slot?

The Fer-de-Lance is another classic design that has now been in production for two centuries. The ship became famous for its popularity with top business executives and wealthy bounty hunters, being a fast, well armed vessel, with luxurious accommodation and high quality components fitted as standard. Early models were built by Zorgon Peterson, but more recently, limited numbers have been upgraded by Saud Kruger in a rare collaboration, resulting in even more lavish creations, without spoiling the original design and specification requirements.

As you can see the FDL is a rich mans ride, not a military ship. Dont think I've ever seen one in a CZ fighting on either side.

Where if you look at..

The Federal Dropship is the Federation Navy’s workhorse ship for tactical and special forces deployments. This is a well-armoured and well-armed ship capable of carrying large loads. Its versatile nature means that it is well-suited to tackling even the most hostile environment.

It does what it says on the tin for the Federal Navy.

I'd like to see a military slot for the keelback. The hull increase is very nice, but another slot for shield cells or module reinforcements would not hurt.

Yeah i was surprised the keelback didnt get a military slot since its basically a converted t-6 specifically designed for convoy escort, isnt it?

Since when is the Anaconda a military ship? I though it's a multi-purpose...

Same for the cutter.

I guess it's being implemented as SLFs were; realistically to the ships that need them, in this case to help dispell certain ships being mincemeat the moment shields are down in the current environment.

Cutter not strictly military. My God, does it need some extra hull resiliance.

As escorts go, I see the Keelback as less of an armoured Humvee full of tooled up squaddies, but more like your Aunty Doris in a Volvo, toting a twelve gauge. Your mileage may vary.

The Cutter is used by the imperial military, but you might be right, what we fly is the civilian version of it. :p

I really dislike how multiroles seem to be an 9/10 at everything and specialists are slightly better at their intended role but then absolutly useless at everything else. Thats not balanced tradeoffs. Nerf anaconda! Dont buff it! Nerf all multiroles! Anything named after a snake? Nerf it!!!

The cutter is actually a military ship however, as its mentioned by name in an old federal/imperial navy rundown in newsletter 7 someone posted a week ago somewhere. It may be more of your classical cruiser design, built for endurance, crew comfort, and range primarily while still providing ample firepower, for ranging force projection at the borders of an empire to fight off pirates and brigands and remind people in the colonies whos in charge, and not optimized to be used as part of a dedicated battle fleet.

I'm surprised and a bit irritated that the Imperial Clipper didn't get any slots. If we're going based on ships used by militaries, what the superpowers use in CZ and the fact that you need to have a military/noble rank to obtain it then the Clipper should undoubtedly have a slot or two. Description in game aside, the ship is used for military purposes. I can understand the Imperial Courier not being included as you almost (if not at always) never see them with militaries and it's the space equivalent of a rich guys weekend car (think Jaguar F Type). In fact I think I've only seen them as pirates or faction ships when used by NPCs. Can't we get some love for our Clippers? It deserves it.

Military yes, but definitely not strictly a "combat" ship ;) Arguably just about any Fed or Imp ship is "military".

I am gonna go straight ahead with the nerf nerfing lines...

What this means is my Fed Gunship can finally carry 64 tonnes of cargo. Up from 4.

I just have to replace the current 6A Shield Cell Bank with some Shield Cell Bank combination in the 3 new Military slots.

This will give it more flexibility for missions.

Remember when the only weapon to really upset the Thargoids was a Military Laser?

- Added new military slots to the following ships:
- Eagle: 1x size 2
- Imperial Eagle: 1x size 2
- Viper Mk III: 1x size 3
- Viper Mk iV: 1x size 3
- Vulture: 1x size 5
- Federal Dropship: 2x size 4
- Federal Gunship 3x size 4
- Federal Assault ship: 2x size 4
- Imperial Cutter: 2x size 5
- Federal Corvette 2x size 5
- Anaconda: 1x5 size 5

Does anyone have any intel on this military hardware? whats the low down? Have I missed a big announcement?

Nutter

Not much love for falcon delacey

On the other hand, the Anaconda being an exception and getting one kind of defeats the purpose....

I believe that the official reason why the Anaconda got one despite not being a military ship is because it is a big ship. Big ships are getting hammered in the next patch with massive nerfs to shield boosters, so they gave the Annie a military slot so that it doesn't just become a glass cannon.

Id say just give it another regular slot then. It is a multi-role after all. If that makes it too good nerf it in other ways (after preliminarily nerfing it because NERF SNEK!)
