Well that ladies and gentlemen rule out these ruins being related to the Thargoids, I presume what Drew says here is now all cannon,

http://www.drewwagar.com/progress-report/elite-dangerous-lore-the-thargoids/

Thargoids are universally female.

Well done: so these GUARDIANS are not the Thargoids FOR SURE ;)

i wonder then if the US is searching for the GUARDIANS and the US' are pulling us out of whichspace because we look very much like the GUARDIANS perhaps, when it scans us its disappointed (hence the moan it makes before flying off) that we don't match the DNA profile they are looking for.

however, havent a few of the NPC's been abducted in the recent past, could they have been replaced by a GUARDIAN shape shifter or some such?

Once we get the DNA from the mission i think there is going to be a way to fool the US in to thinking we are what they are looking for and then either attack us or want to talk.

Thought?

Or maybe some are descendants, a bit like it works in Assassins Creed, where very few have the old Guardian DNA.

I'm sorry but you can't say that you've had no contact with a UA or UP prior to first contact and then go on to say you picked up a UA before first contact. It doesn't add anything to the data collected so far and shouldn't be included by M.Volgrand as it muddies the water.

Everything from Monday onwards is good :)
Let me clarify. When I say "First Contact" I meant THE first contact by DP Sayre, not myself. Prior to that event I have had no experience with these things until this weekend, which took place as I have described. In that context, the information I have given is accurate. Do with it what you will.

I've edited my post to reflect this.

or Stargate where some of them have the ancient gene which let them use the tech.........hummmmmmmm interesting thoughts here, it would be interesting if that was the case.

thank you, time to update the templates. We should agree on a naming pattern for active obelisk so we can collect data more easily

I’m at work reading about all of you doing these missions, and I can’t wait to get there in game and complete all of the tests. I want to read the entire story in sequential order.

Something occurred to me though, and it’s both positive and negative. On a positive note I like how Frontier has implemented this mission, it’s the most exploration oriented mission I’ve seen in the game to date, and I’d love more missions of this nature. Not just for these ruins but other things like abandoned bases and ship wrecks and such. On a negative note though, this kinda reinforces the notion that the obelisks and items were never anything more than mission trigger items, and that there never was anything else meaningful for us to discover about them until 2.2.03 after Frontier added the content to the game. Maybe there is still more that we haven’t figured out yet, but it’s also possible that we’ve been hunting ghosts that didn’t exist all of this time too. The ruins might have just been a mission playground that didn’t really mean anything until today’s patch.

Ah well, keep posting commanders, it’s making my day at work less unbearable! I’ll be over there in a day or two.

Guy's the ruins have changed...
