So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Has anyone averaged all the lat/lon coords of crashes? If not, I may do so. It's probably not the best method of finding the base since the initial crashes probably influenced future attempts to replicate it, but hopefully it can shed some light. Another option would be to record all the lat/lon points and render them onto a sphere to visualize the area of interest.

If anyone already has this info, I'd love to see it. But I'll get started on picking data points myself.

so I have scanned the surrounding tiles around the original 1.7 / -147.7 location checked all the valleys some really nices ones around as they have always been favourite hiding places for FDev, so either the server reboot didnt turn things back on or things have indeed moved. Still no Beacons appearing either in the same areas as before.

Until we here from FDEV one way or another I think its safe to assume its probably still not working at this point unless everything ahs indeed moved.

If I remember right this wasnt the only planet with crashes has anyone checked the others yet?

I was getting them right around the -147/-148 latitude (I think the 2nd number is Lat, isn't it?). In fact I was parked right at one of those lines where the tile coloration changes abruptly. As soon as I crossed that line: CTD.

Just spotted in the FDEV post about the assets being turned off until this client update that someone is in the conflux area and no beacons etc showing there either,

Okay, standing down. I'm heading back to my vantage point.

Incidentally, I feel that, with FD's previous track record of putting these POIs in places that look interesting from orbit, I am in a rough looking crater to the west of the large darker area of terrain.

I am positive it's going to be there... But I've never found things like this before, so I'm likely wrong.

have crossed both ways from -144 to -150 to see if there is a CTD and nothing yet.the patch note only mentions a fix for the ctd when exiting orbit, no mention if what ever is waiting for us has been reactivated unfortunately. As not Beacons are showing either its not back on or they simply moved stuff round so we wouldnt find it immediately again.

That's the longitude - do you have the latitude? Also, I've been compiling some numbers and so far have an average of -4.6/-155, with 12 data points. Standard deviation: 18/15. Still looking for more data points.

Flying around investigating these texture boxes.

Did I mention that I got a T.16000m FCS HOTAS for Christmas? I'm still getting used to the controls.

Unfortunately the default "Boost" button is right next to "Reverse Thrust". I swear I was only trying to back away from the planet surface ... the ground sure did rush up to my canopy very, very quickly.

Thank God for shields. Hull integrity is down to 41%. If I survive EAFOTS LZ-H B10-0 then I'll be limping home at best. FSD is sitting at 73% so I've already been enjoying random FSD malfunctions.

My original CTD was near -8/-139.

Folks,

Don't have an update per se, but I'm getting the vibes that a fix isn't immediately imminent (ie, just a switch on). If I hear anything concrete I will post asap.

Cheers,

Drew.

Did you take any screenies?

This is a sequence of -no-POI phenomena observed in three of the rally point planets from Hawkings Gap: one image captured on the ground, second at mid altitude and third at 2.23 km altitude. Sensors were powered on.

As you can see, man made objects were detected by SRV scan but didn't show in my ship's radar. This is only a small example, I detected three crashed nav beacons very close one to another, with the same results.

I wasn't aware that the ship sensors could detect anything on a planet's surface. Do you mean you just saw no blue circles?

Hmmm....haven't seen that behavior myself. The blue circles tend to disappear within a few seconds after appearing so can be easy to miss, particularly if you are looking around a lot searching for something. I have had instances where I encountered a POI on the sensors and immediately pointed the ship nose down and headed down to about 100m above the surface. In some cases I could then see what caused the POI. I landed, deployed SRV and investigated close up, but after docking SRV and taking off, the objects where no longer visible from the ship.

I'm talking about finding that kind of objects while on ground, recall my ship, taking off vertically and not seen any blue POIs. And the objects are there after landing again. I didn't got a single POI in the whole search area while airborne. Is this a normal behavior?.

I thought the blue circles for POI's only appeared above and below a certain altitude. Looks like the screenshots above are only 2km above the surface. too low I thought for blue circles for POI's to appear anyway.
