Yeah, so spending my time looking at the ruins, we've started talking about alignments in Open a bit.
The skybox rotates though. What times of day might one suggest we be looking for alignment to occur??

On Earth the most common in some cultures would be sunset and sunrise.
Tho obviously that only relates to the sun.

Whereas the major astronomical body at Synufe is the orbiting moon.
I actually think the orbiting moon aligns with the largest circular mound, it sit's over it and within it at a certain time.
I wonder if there is any change at that point?

Spent some time in the ruins trying different combos of ancient items and active obelisks. Had another cmdr come by and we worked together peacefully.

During this i noticed there are sets of obelisks that have one or two active obelisks in them that are scannable. Before the other cmdr came in the active obelisks would always be the same. Until the cmdr started scanning them, the "set" that always had the same active obelisk had now changed. The new active obelisk replaced the one that was previously active. Not sure if this is what some cmdrs are seeing when they think the active obelisks are changing.

I saw some spreadsheets completed with no where near 60 data collected. Not sure what that means. Also the solutions some cmdrs have come up with don't work when I try them.

As I was typing this reply, sitting in my ship outside of the ruins, I randomly gained historical data. Now again gained language data.

So far the standard 13 are:

Biology 7: U+R
Biology 9: U+C

History 8: C+U
History 10: C+U
History 11: C+Ta
History 12: C+O
History 14: C+R
History 15: C+To

Language 8: Ta+O/R?
Language 12: Ta+O/U?
Language 14: Ta+R

Technology 7: O+C
Technology 10: O+U

These seem confirmed by multiple CMDRs, even if the obelisk changes, just use these combos on different obelisks to get the set.

In addition, mad_nox and DrifterBG (only) seem to have found another 9 records, but they did not record the combinations or whether they were able to confirm each others results.

I have the same 13 pieces of data, but I got some of them with only one item:

History 8: Casket only
Language 8: Tablet only
Technology 7: Orb only

I have gone through all combos now, so I really wonder how some are getting 20+.

I just arrived at the Alien Ruins a few mins ago. It seems to be very laggy there. While searching for some "relics", i stumbled upon a Mesondorite (?). I shot at it and Arsenic fell out. I thought fine, but the Arsenic piece just hang 43 meters above me without falling back to the surface at all. It expired normally.

MFG
CMDR WER NUR

I'll look.

I also just thought of something. Last night there was an eclipse, and just now, the site is again under the eclipse of that moon. It happens maybe every 14 hours or something, I dunno.
It could be the timeframe that the obelisks align...

I just flew back to Meene and handed in the mission, got 6mil. I wonder if thats game over for my scanning now?

Speculation is that perhaps yes. and also any of use that have taken the mission might never complete it if we dont find the other ruins in time sorta deal.

The Ruin world is it's self a moon around a Ringed Brown dwarf. Ive seen that in the sky.

I think your posts work on the assumption that this culture is primitive by drawing comparisons to examples found on earth and its ancient past.
Im not convinced that an interstella species that has built an outpost on an airless world, would bother with primitive behaviours such as alignment to astronomical objects. Except maybe for religious reasons, but then that would add a new spin on the function of this structure. However of all the Data blocks collected at the site none have spoken about the Guardians religious beliefs, so im not sure to think it a matter for consideration.

But then again this is a game... and the designers do what designers do.

if it is a comm device, makes sense align stuff. you don't point sat dish to a wall.

But the above posts are in regards to the overall architectural structure itself and its alignment to objects in the sky.

A comms device would be designed to swivel on an axis to move with the rotation of the world as it turns on its axis.

I think people are getting locked into a mind set that the ruin is primitive simply because of its condition.

It reminds us of archaeological digs here on earth which are always from more primitive cultures.

However in this context, Ancient does not equate to primitive.

This is not meant to be antagonistic or anything, but could you just not do a few more? This is quite literally one of the easiest ways to rack up millions of credits that doesn't have to do with exploits.

DrifterBG here... I'm now up to 21 confirmed decodings. Mad_Nox and I have been pretty much doing the same thing; random scanning with random combinations in our SRV cargoholds.

No real rhyme or reason.

Sothis was not an exploit. Robigo was not either. it was intended. The BGS controls everything.

Im sorry but i dont believe you! If you had two or three more could be you have some other item but more than 50% more than everybody else??

Can you prove that somehow with pictures? Or at least list them and the combinations you got it?

I am almost sure that the ruins are a comm station.

The ruins are a comm station and the shape tells us where to look next. The shape and monolith disposition indicate the other end of the phone line where we must go.

Which supports both the machine and map theory which is nice, yeah I'd go with that assessment.

It's also pretty clear I think that the ruins that we all know and love are not static. I think it is wrong to assume that a spreadsheet of ancient objects vs. outcomes are the same for everyone at all time we need to move on from that thinking.
