The items an obelisk needs are not even persistant for individual players. its either bugged, or an obelisk is assigned random data when it becomes active. I took notes of all data readings to see what each one wanted in solo, relogged(as they were not reactivating) then went to use the items I had taken note of, and they were all different again.

I still think the sound they emit is the clue to what it needs. Just hard to test when they deactivate after a scan.

The establishment of FTL communications before the arc ships arrive at their destination rule them out as being humans.

The Guardian weaponry was electro magnetic, whilst the US uses pulse lasers.

I got the feeling the AI manipulated the parts of society which resisted change, then they turn this into religion which spread throughout their society dominating their cultural output, then the AI triggered a war between the two sides which resulted in both being unable to resist the AI when they turned hostile.

Which resulted in the guardian swift defeat.

New crack pot theory of mine, what if the Mycoid virus wasn't developed by humans but was savage from Guardian ruins? They were after all biological war specialists. Whilsts apart from a biological weapon on onion head farms we haven't seen anyone use biological weapons in human on human warfare.

What if in the final act of war between the AI and the Guardians, the Guardian destroyed the monolith network shutting down the AI.

Us playing around with it may fully reactivate it. Which seem to be Ram Tah ultimate aim.

I fussed with that image some more and made it clearer -- maybe. It looks like a structure of some kind, I guess.

Why, what would the AIs motivation be to do that?

Does someone have a link to the numbering of the obelisks? I can't find it on the first page and I certianly aint going to find it on the 800+ pages.

It's always been on the front page. Inside the first spoiler, but I understand opening a spoiler with "MAP" written over it could be hard....
So I've just put it outside of it now... hard to miss I hope ;)

History is written by the victor. i doubt we are reading truth in these messages in these ancient ruins.

Just look how biased and whitewashed the view is on these forums when discussing the abject failure of the Obama administration. Imagine how off this information is in these carefully worded messages... that it is ancient and written by the survivors.

Stop watching ancient aliens man, that show is bad for your brain[wacko]. The truth is we don't give our ancestors the credit they deserve. The ancient Egyptians were excellent mathematicians and stone masons. The ancient Chinese were way more advanced that we were at the same time and the romans were building perfectly straight roads across Europe and Britain 2000 years ago

and astronomers.... Exactly

Yes, and yes.

Well im done with the ruins, no new obelisk for me, and still have 13 data. I dont know if its RNG that makes some obelisk to show up or what. Will hang there until someone finds out how to dechyper this. Good luck!
CMDR Berzergker off!

Well today I could go to the ruins for the first time.
I have immediatly confirmed that same combinations of objects + beacons do not always give the same result.

But there must be a logic there that we are missing.

I think we should organize coordinated group tests to try to find out.

One thing I will say - is that the delayed messages means a lot of collected data is probably trash.

Scan an obelisk, it succeeds but you see no message. Scan the next obelisk and you receive the success message, leading you to think the second obelisk was the successful one.

The one thing that seems to be reliable, is the reward indicator on the message screen. If that goes up, you know the one you just scanned was successful.

I whould like to know WHY in solo obelisks are static whilst in PG or OPEN they are dynamic... It's a bug or it's intended/dependant on mechanics?

Michael?:p
