my mate is considering getting one, pricey tho

I suggested he waited and got one for the A1200 whjen it comes out if he is gonna do it, and spend the money he may as well do it on his A1200.

would put my old souped up A1200 with .... 68030 accelerator and 32mb (iirc) of ram to shame!. (it was a sad day when i had to give this away)

my days of real classic hardware are behind me now, I have to make do with emulation.

Yeah, I gave mine away on this fateful day seven years ago... and Now I'm seeing videos on youtube with cool things you can do nowadays with your Amiga.

But sometimes I start up an emulator and play Turrican.

I got back into Amiga's in about 2010 (I got the A1200 out of the loft to sell but ended up joining the English Amiga Board Forums (EAB) and got hooked)

I went mad buying up all the stuff I couldn't afford as a teen, I even blogged about it for a while (www.fitzstevesamigaworld.co.uk) the site goes down when the hosting ends in 12 months but all my old projects are up there. The A600 is a fun project due to it's small footprint, if you point him to my blog the A600 project/s should be on there.

Kipper2k does some great stuff for the community, I still drop by the boards occasionally. The price of regular Amiga stuff like the Blizzard cards has gone through the roof in the last 2-3 years so these community projects are sometimes the most economical way to enjoy the old machines. These days I fire up an emulator occasionally, it's not the same but I have an old Netbook that I have WinUAE installed on and setup like and A4000 with RTG Graphics!

Oh and I still have my original boxed copy of Elite for the Amiga :)

Still have my A1200 with 68030 (128Mb ram), CDRom and three external high density floppy drives :)

Will never get rid of it as its a brilliant machine to use and still works even after twenty or so years since I bought it.

Yep. I still have my A1200 with VGA adapter board so I can attach it to my LCD monitor, a 68040 accelerator board, AmigaDOS 3.9 on CD - I use a cd-rom drive from a PC, and some other stuff I can't remember as it's been some time since I powered the thing up.

The internal floppy drive is busted though - it was a high-density replacement (with its own controller PCB), and I'm not sure if I can get a replacement high density drive. I'd like to, because I have some old Tracker mods I made way back in the 90's and would love to get them digitally preserved for posterity.

I also power the A1200 from an adapted PC PSU, to which I have attached the original Amiga power cable - it's needed to power all that extra gubbins I installed as the old Commodore power brick can't cope with the power draw ;)

PS: Had an Amiga 500 and 2000. Not sure what happened to them. Might still be in a box in a basement somewhere with my family back overseas.

I went through a load of old boxes the other day, found a copy of the dark wheel from the original speccy release and also a floppy with workbench 3.1 on it. Still got the speccy, but miss that amiga 1200 a lot. I remember the wonders of having an internal HD on a computer for the first time. Pretty sure all i did was play frontier and kick-off 2 on it though.. oh well. :)
