Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I dont know if anyone tried this, but I am on my way to the rift right now and cannot do it.

1. log into solo (a new instance is created with randomized pattern)
2. scan the 15 obelisks and note which data is returned (alpha, beta, ect.)
3. relog to create a new instance and repeat until one has 2 or better 3 values for each obeliks
4. now check if there is any correlation between the 15 obelisks

e.g. even though the pattern are random, two obelisks may have always the same pattern in one instance, so they need to be scanned after each other to unlock more, which could happen in open by excident

Also, in one the known messages they say that the guardians values their position relative to their tech, so maybe one has to be exactly in front of the glowing parts while doing the scan.

Just some thoughts...

Interdictions from aliens are a scripted event, you can't do anything meaningful during such an encounter. So why bother over analyzing an advanced cutscene?

Just because it is a scripted event that does not mean that there isn't hidden content.

Of course, but seriously, interaction is extremely limited in ED. The fact, the alien ship does in no way even react to weapons fire (it doesn't even take damage), tells the experienced video game player there is nothing more to discover.

Ok, but let's not fill this thread up with such stuff. As i said earlier, there are plenty of other topics where you can do that. There is a way to avoid it, so use it.

Sorry, you're wrong!

Members of the FD team will be reading this thread with interest, seeing how we are managing their puzzle. These dheads do not want to be part of this puzzle, their tiny brain's can't see further than killing & they're too stupid to realise that they're playing the wrong game.

If players that have been griefed by these morons stop posting such events, then how are FD to know that these moronic actions are putting players off from future puzzles set by FD - eventually no one will be bothered to take part in things like the ruins & walk away from the game, leaving it to fade away!

It's time that FD realise & acknowledge that because of a handful of morons, they have to be setting puzzles that are solvable in EACH mode of play.

Nothing more to discover by repeating the encounter over and over, to be sure. Maybe something hidden in the audio or something like that but until they break the script and start doing something different each encounter contains the same raw data.

Next set of ruins should come equipped with BFGs that take down hostiles in seconds. THAT would show who the "Guardians" are. :)

Interesting features on the moon. Re logged to see if it was a graphical issue. It was still there when I returned. Probably nothing but a bug but interesting never the less. Its on the moon orbiting the ruins. Will scout the area just to be sure its nothing.

I refuse to bow to dillholes. Of course my time zone means I don't get the worst of them out there...

I refuse to allow them to have fun. That is what they want. So I deny them the opportunity. Because I can. Which makes my choice all the more enjoyable. I even have a deliberate smirk to myself during CGs etc, and often even talk to my computer screen:

"OK let's see if any griefer assaults can catch me at *this* CG"
"Oh no, you *CAN'T*, because I'm using my engineered STEALTH MODE FSD."
"Losers"

Random Passing thought... Has anyone tried with a buddy to dual activate the corresponding pairs at the Ruins? Example G 17 and G 20 at the same time in a fresh instance. Might be why it randomly works in PG/Open, and not in Solo

Is there any symmetry in the ruins either site wide or in the cluster of obelisks?

Maybe then duel activations might mean something?

Quick question. Since the ruins were discovered a way they were not meant to be, has anyone actually found any of the clues that were left for us to find them? Maybe seeing how they wanted us to find them might help us locate more, or reveal something important?

There were going to be clues, according to FD, but when the ruins were found without using them FD said they'd use those clues for some other aspect of gameplay...

You're in the same instance as me at the moment... But anyway... A and F have similarities. Part of E and B have similarities, C looks like a pair or a quad, D is two opposite sets (but no activation symmetry), G is two opposite sets, The other part of E... um no idea

Guys the E-region might be labeled wrong. We already know that the upper part of E is not urn/bio, but orb/tech, but even the middle part gives error messages when scanned with urn, so it might be totem/culture era. Someone needs to check if E9-E11, E18-E20 or E27-E29 is turned on.

Totem scan negative. What else could it be? Casket/History, Tablet/Language or Orb/Tech.

I will test this.

I fully agree that this is / was not a city, but it's not a monument either. It states in one of the decoded data (Tech 7) it was just for communication.

""This is very interesting. According to the data package you just sent me they monolith network was used for most if not all communications regardless of importance.

In keeping with their predilection for sharing knowledge, few restrictions were placed on the network. I thought there might have been separate networks for military and administrative use, but I haven't found any evidence of that.

Everything points to an extremely open society, wich would have made them even more vulnerable when significant social divisions arose."

Still trying to find out how to reset the monoliths without re-logging.

Edit: Point being that a monolith is a single solid thing that's different to anything around it.

Fly safe CMDR's.

Hmm, seen this a few times in the thread and that interpretation seems to be the generally accepted one at the moment, but it might be a bit of a premature conclusion. Unless real liberties are being taken with the word, the obelisks aren't monoliths, by definition. Totally possible that the normal meaning doesn't apply of course, it's being translated from Guardian after all! (And obviously FD might have just been liberal with the word!)

Just a note for anyone trying to catch the transversal of the moon over the main set of circles, where another poster said it looked like a set of sights.

You've got about 10 minutes before the next transversal. However, you'll be looking at the dark side of the sister moon UNLESS you get someone to park just right in front of you with their engines flaring. There is a graphical glitch that causes engine lights and exhaust smoke to light up any orbital bodies you're looking at through them.

Good luck, Open is empty on my side, so I can't perform this trick myself.

I found similar with group D - urn + totem on D6 gave me Cultural 10/20. I posted it a while back but this moves fast :)
