Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Hah, as soon as I saw it I thought brainffff.

Didn't bother to check as it's going to be something silly, just posted here for others.

It is a 2step goose chase to find a crashed T9.... it has a beacon on it which lists the items it was hauling. Weirdly enough, there are "419 units of Historic Novels (Secrets to Background Simulation)" Most people here put this off as a simple easter egg - but I think someone should check the "tales from the frontier" novel page 419... maybe there is a sentence or something in there that leads to some new mystery?

Yeah, I though of the sites being in a geometric pattern, say a triangle since it would mean 3sites => all data.

However there are some problems with using this :

1) we do not know the plane which contains the triangle
2) we do not know the length between the three points.
3) Brute forcing the problem is very hard (would need a data set of all the systems in the area, with their coordinates, and search for equilateral triangles starting with the known system)*.

*It might be possible to do using the logfile / eddiscovery (will have a look see, because checking all the systems in a 150 lyr radius seems at least doable).

Forget about the plane. I'm an idiot.

The towers does not draw a plane. They draw a cone, like this:
https://s24.postimg.org/v81bgt739/Cone.png

Z points to south pole star.

The network would then have to be a 3D shape, like a pyramid or something.

Don't understand what you're saying. The ruin is a fixed point on a rotating sphere & therefore describes a circular path (assuming the planet axis is not wobbling); that circle lies on a plane. I thought this was the plane you mentioned- I'm assuming the other ruin sites will lie on that plane, within (say) 40light years from this site.

If you knew the person who gave out the 'sekrit' on the live stream you would understand... *whispers* He is the Background Sim god...

hmm On the live stream, The message about background. Could it be that we need to see something in the background? I missed the live stream, but why is he in system SKAUDE something something... ?

I've just finished work on a map set were i've added the correct combos out of this SHEET into every detailed clustermap.

ED Ancient Ruins - with Combos

e.g.:

So it would be easy to pick up all datapackages.

1. Fly to ruins.
2. Jump into the srv.
3. Drive to a glowing obelisk.
4. Recognize obelisk in clustermap.
5. Get correct combo out of clustermap.
6. Drive back to ship and load correct combo in the srv.
7. Drive back to the obelisk.
8. Scan and get datapackage.
8a. Look if same combo is necessary for another obelisk and scan them too if possible.
9. Start new at point 3.

Keep in mind: For now you have to switch to OPEN or PG to lit up obelisks that do not belong to the 15 "default" obelisks always seen in SOLO (and meet up there with some friends/other commanders).

The "default" obelisks are marked in the clustermaps with cyan triangles. They will lit every time you start in SOLO, for now.
Here is a list: A3, B6, C3, C13, C36, C38, D9, E1, F4, G17, G18, G19, G20, H26, H34

Question from me:
What i noticed when drawing the maps, there is no combo for G19 ang C38 in the linked datasheet above. These two belongs to the "default" obelisks. I wonder not to find a combo in the sheet. I think there would be a typing error in the sheet, C38 would be C48 out of the sheet?
But what about G19?

That's a pretty neat work, CMDR!
I'll see where to put it on the FP...

i find it odd that a video game would give out hints to a location in a video that not all players know about. yes i am referring to the hamster we all just went looking for. if they want everyone that payed for this game to be able to participate in egg hunts, they need a better way to give out information. unless they only want the select few they like, to have said information. rant over back to trying to figure this puzzle out.

"...we think that pirates are building an illegal weapons manufacturing depot on an asteroid in the Farack system, and we'd like you to go there and take some photos."

Hope that helps you

yeah I know who he is... however, it is just a bit weird that it has such a large number, like it was a page number of sorts... and that it also says that the cargo is "history novels". I mean, obviously the background simulation thing screamed in my face right from the beginning... it's just maybe, just maybe, there is a bit more to it? Probably just hopeful thinking but since I don't own the novels myself, I am unable to verify that there probably really is nothing on page 419 in one of the novels :p

where did you get that info?

No database lists bodies on Farack system. Am I missing something?

It seems Clanga was right. Looking in the "Tales from the Frontier" book, it led me to suspect the system Wendigo. I went to Hausdorff Beacon and found the following message.

Decode please?

EDIT: It also mentioned guinea pigs shortly thereafter. So make of that what you will.

I'm pretty much sure the guinea pig is just a cute little side quest for fun, nothing to do with the the ancient ruins :) Dav likes his fun little missions as per his previous stream :)

We're going to need some kind of breadcrumb quests to lead us to the next part of the puzzle. This may just be an Easter egg but as we've got a new code which mentions artefacts it looks worth investigating. Now where's the cryptology dept. got to?
