So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I'm currently in Alliance space. Might take a gander at both the Riedquat and Reorte systems. It's a long shot, but there might be a hint or two at one of the stations.

Side note: people have been finding mining equipment at the sites, correct? The controlling faction of Reorte is the Reorte Mining Coalition. Could they be involved?

I've been nearly a week on EAFOTS GL-Y E2 6 with no luck so far. Being that it's a delta base, is it likely do we think for it to be in the same location type as the other delta base, ie a canyon?

Lots and lots of crates from Caine-Massey, a mining company.

Actually might look through galnet myself and see if theres any entry about em while I finish my survey line.

Edit: Nope, they keep out of the spotlight.

yea purely visual, Alpha and Beta bases have lights though. So while at 10ish km they are ALOT harder to see at night, at 5km, they are actually easier to spot at night.

At 5km? Oh. I've been flying between 1.8 and 2km. So at least I'll see it (given that the lights are on). Thanks for the tips, CMDRs!

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Have nothing to add at the moment, but I'd just like to comment that this is shaping up to be one of my favorite story lines in Elite. Finding these bases is a genuine task, even for the seasoned Elite veterans, because of that, it's not over in a matter of hours like the usual mystery that Canonn takes on. The story revealed in the bases is also great and gives an idea of what deep space exploration would have been like in the 3270s, and the whole hush hush mining operation.

Also, I feel like this is INRA leading up to us finding Raxxla.

it was hell getting unstuck after the cliff side log.

I read the messages differently. That their destination was "this-a-way and half as much again", not that their destination was the Formidine Rift. They named the area they got stuck in the Rift.

Edit: Which I guess is confusing to me seeing that the mission is called the Formidine Rift Mission, but they named the area after they got there?

It keeps mentioning the R & R Line but as we know eafots is not on that line. could it be that the beacons are just for a base and this isnt their final destination? but from RR to Eafots and Half as much again? so 8434LY and 50% which totals 12651K LY from Reorte?

Well, misery loves company, I & others will be joining you! ;) (btw, think I'm about 6000 LYs away atm).
You probably would have found it by the time I get there :p

That's what it sounds like to me. That this wasn't their final destination. But I see a contradiction in what they call the Rift. The mission is the Rift mission, so I assume their destination is the Rift. But one of the logs says they nicknamed this area the Rift. 4Kly is a pretty big difference in area.

Update from Reorte: this is apparently the home of Falcon de Lacey. The system is filled with tourist beacons about the company. Nothing too interesting, except a link to Sirius Corp. and a "WCM Corporation". Davies High has standard station news, with two articles from August about the Rift and CoR, but they seem to be just copies of GalNet articles from the CG. There's also an article from June giving a lore explanation to the delay (read: loading screen) when dropping from supercruise. Something about your brain adjusting to bending space-time.

Would the outpost and planetary ports have different articles?

Thanks for the info Deinonychus2012 :), I don't know I'm afraid.
.
Btw guys...
Expedition Log 07/09/3270
"Finally fixed the drive, more monotony. Can't believe it's nearly six months since we set out from Riedquat. Did I say Riedquat? I meant Reorte. It's getting to me, this endless emptiness. The guys are showing the strain. Three more months before we can turn and head back. The stars are thinning out, you can the whole galaxy just hanging there..."

.
It's says 3 more months before turning round, not after 3 mths working, that to me says 9 mths travelling out, less the time setting up bases & the FSD repair.
