So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

30+ range is fine.
A ship with a good view through the canopy.
A fast ship, as you need to be in normal space.

I was out there in an asp which works fine. Was thinking I would bring better thrusters on my return. Also considered Courier/Clipper for speed.

I'm rocking an FDL with a range of 24.5ly and normal cruise speed of 307m/s.
Not ideal, but I can always fly upside down...

Bring an AFMU. Some of these planets are high-G and you will likely bounce off them a few times.

Any recommendations for ship, range and equipment for searching?

If you head for either the Conflux or Hawking's Gap then you can make the trip in a ship with around a 10Ly jump range. It all depends on how much time you are willing to spend in supercruise to get there. If your destination is the Formidine Rift then, yeah, 30+ light-years would be recommended. That and the best fuel scoop you can afford.

Beyond that nothing else is required to help find the surface settlements aside from a good eye and patience. I would, however, recommend the following if you can manage it:

1. AFMU
2. Adv. Discovery Scanner
3. Detailed Surface Scanner
4. Vehicle hangar and SRV

Excellent, my colleague Mssrs Smeare will be heading out tonight in his Courier - just needs to swap a cargo rack for a AFMU. I'm stuck in the Distant Suns expedition.

Where is the sixth settlement data point on EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 C2? I have found 1-5 and also the main data terminal (without going over the cliff). Been driving around the rest of the base and can't seem to located number 6.

Would it be fair to say that we find these bases in location that you would expect to find geysers? If so there are some pilots who are really good at finding geysers, we could ask them for advice... Is there a place when one can find photos of locations of all bases found so far (apart from this thread, way to big to search ;), then I can find a succesful geyser hunter and ask for opinion and tips?

I hope it is a significant structure or artificial light source; my gut tells me it's starlight reflecting off a high peak. Do as many trips to Taco Bell have done before, prove my gut wrong.

Wait, is GL-Y E2 1 atmospheric? If so, maybe a cloud?
