I have been looking down at the map in-game in my ship and then watching the ringed purple planet, the 1b moon, and the galactic ring shift position.
Seems to me that these runs are a visual map of the cosmos when a certain set of conditions is met in the orbit of 1b.
If the map is a visual representation of the night sky form this spot on the planet......
There are only two questions then that I need to answer.
1. What physical bodies in THIS system (including galactic arm) are represented on the map? See my guesses.
2, What is the correct orientation with which to view the map? Is the bottom-up orientation correct just like the image we are using?
Perhaps it is upside-down? Perhaps it should be oriented with the left or right as the top?
The area on the map "A" with the long spike seems to represent one of a few things.
1. A represents the purple ringed planet that 1B is orbiting in such a position of the night sky that you only see the purple glow and half of the ring.
2. A represents the galaxy center and arm you can see in the background.
3. A represents 1b and the thick line coming out of A is the galaxy arm. This makes F the moon?
Once you look at the map from the correct orientation and the position of heavenly bodies in sky above matches the image... you have it unlocked.
Granted, we know that over long periods of time EVERYTHING in the galaxy shifts relative to everything else but I think we should assume that this is NOT accounted for in-game. This is going to be an accurate representation of what can be seen by looking up.
The digits on the outer-wall of the compound are some kind of measuring system. Perhaps something as concrete as 100ly increments, 10ly increments, 1,000ly increments, etc. Each corner represents a key system or location in their time.
I wouldn't be surprised if the three beacons that rise out of the dirt each represent a key location with "find-able" items.
My guess?
Based on my intuition ONLY I think we are looking at the map UPSIDE DOWN.
