So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I had assumed, when the beacons were found in Lave, Eravate and around Jupiter that this was what he was referring to. I think those led to the discovery of one of the alien wreckage sites. Of course it could be completely unrelated.

Ahhh, that might be the case - although the beacons around Lave and Eravate mean you don't need a Sol permit. Also, throwing non-Rift clues into the Rift thread makes things here even more complicated than normal.

So, possible, but not definitive :)

I see settlements in every kilometers with rock's shadows on EAFOTS GL-Y E2 6, some others eyes can be an advantage.
Ok I'll head to that one :), is that the really big planet or the 2nd biggest out of interest? [edit] Nm, just seen it's the biggest 1 with over 7000 km radius!

What's the theory behind all these abandoned System Defence Force ships found on some planets in the rift? Could they have been sent as rescue ships and then got marooned themselves? They are always found next to wrecks with which you cannot interact. Days of searching GL-Y E2 6 and that's all I found so far.

But the alien wreckage tie in with the hyperdictions which tie in with the Dynasty Expedition logs. It would've been a good hint of things to come.

What's the connection between aliens and the dynasty expedition?

Conflux Beta Mission 1/4
Expedition Log: 01/10/3270

"Witch-space once again. We're almost to our destination in the Conflux area now. That's odd... looks like... can't be!
You can't be interdicted in witch-space... that's impossible! We're back in normal space. Systems off-line, no power, what in Randomius is that..."

I'm not saying it's the same aliens, or even aliens. But the Expedition logs talk about lights and "things" in witchspace and having the feeling of being followed by something.

Ah ok I forgot about that. The lights also feature in a lot of the tip off missions where you find a wrecked ship with logs.

Do they mean those dang fireflies you see in your periphery, the white ones that sometimes keep pace with the H-Jump? Harmless. At least harmless to me, as I just turn on the wipers and ignore them.

Lol
.
Right, I've finally arrived at the RA-G system (for now), I couldn't help exploring en route  ;).
Off to bed now, will join in the search tomorrow.

Position of the satellite *might* help with a tidally locked planet. Otherwise I'd consider it a non starter.

Example of why this doesn't work: The Beta site in the Rift is on a tidally locked planet BUT it is tidally locked to a different star from the one where the beacon orbits. There is no way for the beacon and the settlement to remain in a constant position with each other.

Was thinking about this in relation to GL-Y...

Because the 6th planet is rotating, and the first (position of beacon) then will it not make sense that the base would be in a polar position in order to maximise communication with the beacon?

Hmmm...

It would be a lot easier to calculate the orbits if the game incorporated an orrery view.

Not to mention: Beacons that look like strange tech/artifacts, mysterious hyper drive failure, mysterious airlock failure, mysterious canopy failure... Almost like at technological plague ;).

Mysterious accident in the airlock was clearly not a failure, but a murder. They had heard too much...
