Hardware & Technical Configuring the throttle range and idle on HOTAS

I recently got my hands on a HOTAS with an unusual throttle. It has an idle point off centre, and that spot has a kind of notch you can feel as you go through it. Here's an image:

By default Elite Dangerous has an idle spot for the throttle that is exactly in the middle of its range. It would be nice if I could reconfigure it so that it matches the idle spot in the throttle itself. And that would make the ranges for accelerating and reversing of different length, so it would be useful to adjust those ranges as well.

Is it possible to do it?

I'm pretty sure you can't do that within Elite.

What are the throttle's own drivers like? If they offer reasonably powerful scripting it would be possible to write something to remap the output values the way you want.

Beyond that you would end up having to use something like vjoy.

You could try looking here:

Also there is a thing for that called Thrustmapper (earlier version of TARGET software I suppose), you can get it here:

ftp://ftp.thrustmaster.com/accessories/pc/ALL/exe/

You could always see if the current TARGET software will do the job too.

Non-existent. The Thrustmaster support page for my model (a Top Gun Afterburner II, no less, talk about a pompous name :) ) says to just let Windows use its own standard driver.

The annoying thing is, this stick has an extra paddle/axis thing on the back of the throttle handle, which I can't use because the standard Windows drivers don't detect it. Have a look:

Why even bother putting it in?

I might just open the thing and see if the stops can just be removed easily, and then I'll use the full range of the throttle, ignore its idle and afterburner notches and use the standard idle point midway through.
