Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Sorry for not replying earlier. I'm now back at the ruins, but can't really tell in which direction is Barnard's loop rising (I assume you ask for Barnard's loop since it's the most identificable nebula in the sky) because the planet orbit is slow. Maybe in a few hours we can tell using a screenshot taken right now as reference. Bearing 0 and you can see my exact location in the radar and planetary coordinates.
The screenshot:

Still searching for sweet potato?

i was on the ruin all day and when you facing barnard loop she rise to the right

So I had a bit of a wild Theory on this. If we assume the ruins themselves act as a kind of map, is it possible the ridges circling site A represents the system reletive to planet 1b (where the ruins are)?

For example, lets say the inner circular platform of site A represents Planet 1b. 1b is the 2nd closest planet from the Y class sun it orbits (according to the system map).

As Hayler observed, the F class sun runs through one of the gaps perfectly. Could that mean the line/hill that runs off the Inner platform represents the Y class sun? If so, this might mean the three other sites we are looking for might be on planets in the system that lineup with the other three ridges.

The idea is a bit out there, but my $00.02. Will try and confirm before the CG is over for s**ts and giggles.

In which case I'm sorry; I did have a look to see if there was a relevant thread there alrady but didn't see it. But I would say how often has that been promoted to FD during those 23 months- it may need a campaign to push the need.

Oh, no, certainly don't apologise. Some of us have been trying for a long time, we've been pushing it on a regular basis but I think that FD have made the rod for their own back on this one. By making and now pushing 2 of the big storylines (as fantastic as they are) exploration based, they should have been prepared for what is about to happen.

So I've spent the last few days flying around areas of the moon I thought were possible sites for another set of ruins. But with no luck.
If it turns out from the CG that there is one on the moon, especially in one of those areas, it's going to make me feel a bit sick.

To clarify, I had a hunch that it was either in the north west hemisphere or the south west. Possibly near some canyons or mountains and close to a geyser field. Only found one geyser field in my search and it did have canyons nearby. But I could not find anything.
Well I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I spent a while looking into systems engineering & it is surprising how often organisational structure takes over and the management only get filtered information, so it may be that DB, MB & Sandro are not aware of the very real need for this capability. Perhaps we could persuade Obsidian Ant, Josh Hawkins and a few other video makers to give us some public support to improve the explorer's lot?

Not sure if this has been noticed before, but while scanning obelisks, has anyone seen a small blue* dot appear briefly on the HUD map? Just happened to me twice, first time I thought I was just seeing things.

*Might not be blue depending on your UI colour.

I had an adjudication error in solo yesterday, I think after scanning C38 but with different items.

Since C38 and G19 are lit in solo but don't do anything we know of, I usually end my 13-solo runs by scanning these to see if anything happens.
For the record I just got the same error scanning B6 (13/13 in the order that I do them, so may not be significant...)

I will.

Here's the thing though. I paid for this game. I have over 1800 hours in it so yes, you can say I got my money's worth and all the other stuff that people invariably trot out but the facts are this.

  • The ruins mystery is one of the most interesting bits of content that have been included in the game.
  • I want to play this part of the game, engage with it and receive the payoff (entertainment not credits) from playing interesting content.
  • It is broken.
  • I do not expect content to repeatedly be broken in a game which is over two years old.
  • This has happened again and again.
  • I am absolutely frakking sick of it.
Having an expectation that all of the game will work and that I will be able to dip into the parts of the content as and when they interest me rather than as and when FDev can be bothered fixing them is not an issue rooted in some sense of entitlement that I have. It's an issue rooted in my expectations as a consumer who purchased a product and to be frank, those expectations aren't being met. I have no interest whatsoever in sugaring that pill. When I'm at work, if I screw up I get reamed out for it and am expected to deliver more effectively in future and I don't find that unreasonable.

You're absolutely right that the game is supposed to be fun and that I am playing it for entertainment. That is exactly why when faced with content that is broken over and over again, the novely wears off over time and after 14 months of playing the game, I've crossed the Rubicon as far as adopting a laissez-faire attitude to it is concerned. I'm tired of it. Not the game, this is the thing, I still want to play the game but I'm at a point where the stuff outside of the norm is where most of my interest lies and it's that stuff which is frequently delivered in an unplayable state.

What I am tired of is telling myself that it's reasonable to keep excusing it.

I do realise that you were trying to deliver a positive message and I thank you for it. It's just that this has been the straw that broke the camel's back today I'm afraid. We're what, almost halfway through Ram Tah's mission for this aspect of the game, a second aspect of it appears to be due to be unlocked from the CG which will finish today and yet there are still huge problems with the original mission, no communication whatsoever about it and frankly nobody has any idea at all what the hell is going on. Somebody should be getting a strip torn off them for this shambles, there should be some kind of explanation on here (should be one already actually) and it should be the last time it happens.

One thing Iv learnt is don't expect the FD team to do anything near what you think they should be doing - you'll only be disappointed again & again.

I thought that they'd changed, I only went out exploring, doing things like DWE, because I wasn't interested in the things that FD were improving & developing. Then the Jaques story came along. I spent months hanging around there week after week doing things in & out of system waitng for something to happen -FD drip fed improvements bit by bit.
Then came along the current initiative to develop the region. I thought it was a change from the norm, until the CG was announced - a smegging haul stuff 22k ly popularity contest. I left Jaques & returned to the bubble just in time to improve my fleet, then this came along.

It's different to what Im used to doing, so Im not bored with it yet & my expectation of how fast the story moves along isn't too high.
Frankly Im expecting it to be drip fed to us bit by bit, then future sites to be added at update 2.02.04.

Hi all,
I don't have much time to watch the progress here, so if anyone posted this already, my apologies. I fly with Beasts of Bestia and we did put lot of effort to this ourselves.
There is one piece of info even find quite interesting.look at theses stars:
Synuefe XR-H D11-102
Synuefe CO-F A93-1
Synuefe CO-F A93-3
Synuefe IP-D A94-2

We measured the distance between these stars and they are almost a perfect match to the distances between the pillars with relics.
Only problem all the planets are at these stars are either non-landsble, either icy, se definitely no good terrain for ruins to remain on the surface for millennia...
We re about to launch a search operation anyway.

It's probably the obelisk again. If you're quick you can retarget and rescan it, but it just pops the 'Already scanned' message. It hangs around and is more useful in open/PG, in solo it vanishes pretty quickly.

tl;dr: Yes, spotted :) (probably)

Yes :)
Also pointing out a really bad design choice/error/flaw/exploit in ED.

That's why they added the adjudication errors and CTD - FD think of everything :)
