Newcomer / Intro Hostile to Deciat 6a - Felicity is proving elusive

Hello peeps,

I'm currently docked at the Carson Hub , having travelled nearly a 1000 ly to visit this bint [smile]

I looked on inara and YouTube for the location ...supposedly Deciat 6a , but I'm not seeing farseer inc or anything farseer showing on the planets, or any of them in this system.

I've tried landing on Deciat 6a , but as soon as I get close I show as hostile , I've had about 10 aborted goes at finding her on that planet.

I've got the meta alloys in my hold, and a 1000 ly of system scans at each jump. My data banks are full 500/500

My current explorer rank is still aimless but almost at the next rank , I don't want to risk selling my data unless it's to Farseer inc ..

Is that my issue ? ....or am I simply at the wrong place ?

Please help a stuck pilot [big grin]

You must receive an invitation to visit any engineer base before you can land on them. If you can't see Farseer Inc on your map, you don't have the necessary invitation. You need an Exploration rank of Scout or better to receive the invite.

Ah right, that's my issue then, I thought I could just go and unlock her...what grade A numpty[haha]

I do have an invite from Elvira Martuuk , I'll sell the meta alloys here at carsons hub, and go find out where I can find the Soontill relics ....

In those immortal words...I'll be back

Thanks buddy

Before you go flogging the meta alloys at a loss, have you sold any exploration data that you have? You never know, it could be enough to get you ranked up to get the Flic invite.

I like how you keep calling her Flic. :D

OP, getting to a rank of Scout to get an invitation from Felicity isn't that hard. Just make a small exploration trip. 2000LY should be enough. Scan anything intresting. It will take you a day or two, tops. :)

Landing on a few planets and shooting up some rocks will pretty much get you to scout. You'll get rank increases for every new element you find.

Thanks guys , I went to sell data in Deciat, but It didn't because cartography wasn't available..like a numbnut I thought by selling the data at farseer it would unlock me....it was a learning experience for sure , trying to land somewhere that isn't available to me is almost as useful and nooby as activating my Amfu whilst in SC :D

So I was in a quandary then what to do, I was actually in orbit above Deciat 6a...wondering what I could do...checking on here and receiving an invite from Elvira on my way down to Maia yesterday, I googled the relics and plotted a course to ngurii where I read was some was for sale...it's a longshot, but now I've started on this quest I won't leave it until it's done.

So if anyone who reads this knows where soontill relics can be found elsewhere please let me know.

I've done approximately 1000ly in two sessions, ( about 7 hours grind ) which for a noob I think is cool...I managed to get from Maia to Deciat without any interdiction, which amazed me after spending so much time dodging them in the bubble.

The ship behaved itself, I use voice attack and didn't need the keyboard for most of the journey. The 'dark ' is somewhat eerie, system after system of uninhabited systems, I had half a mind to buy myself a surface scanner and go visit some of the undiscovered planets. Maybe I'll go back and do just that afterwards.

Being alone in virtual space where realistically any bad incidents that caused ship malfunctions would have put me back 500ly to my last save. I did look at the possibility of docking at some of the inhabited systems, but didn't want to risk my meta alloys , or the data I had painstakingly amassed, and a lot of them are in state of anarchy and lawless. The banter you get off the npc's is different too..." don't mind me , I'm just passing through " I laughed at that one ...

So I have to make a decision, head to civilisation and gamble that selling my data will get me the rank I need for felicity, or go searching for the elusive soontill relics.

Thanks for the input guys....

Good to see you having so much fun :)

I have a habit of honking every system I enter, at the same time that I fuel scoop. I don't even bother to look whether I've been there or not, I just do it every time. The exploration data adds up over time, and I sell it whenever I'm at a station that wants it. It's kept my exploration rank going up, without me thinking about it.

Passenger missions also now count toward exploration rank, the sightseeing ones. So that's an option as well.

Good luck out there.

I've just noticed your sig ? Are you the codger from YouTube ? ...if so I've watched so many of your videos detailing your journey to colonia...they were my bedtime reading until recently :) ...I was actually sad when you arrived, and you sold all your data . I haven't caught up with codgers adventures since...what are you upto these days ? . It's strange, your presentations are so relaxed and intimate I felt like I got to get to know your character quite well ...bravo sir , fabulous memories for you

Unfortunately, you can only get them in Ngurii. You'd think you could look for them somewhere in Soontil, but that doesn't work.

Sometimes, rare goods can be carried by NPCs, often far from the usual source. But these are pretty rare.

You could always mug another player going to visit Elvira ;)

Thanks buddy, I've slept on it...but erm, I'll pass on that..it's probably why I could never be a pirate, killing a guy who's just done the same journey as me , I would be seriously jacked off .But useful information though. I noticed a cz a couple of systems back, I could go there and collect as much wake data as I need also scavenge the wreckage. I believe I'm safe unless I shoot or pick sides right ? and being a lawless system, would that make it easier to sell illegal goods ? I've never actually smuggled anything, but have watched a few videos about avoiding scans etc.

But my plan for now is to go sell enough or all of my data, to get my explorer rank up..im only about 10 jumps away from Deciat, so if things go right, I'll be around there for a while.

I do have another question though...if you land on a planet, and dismiss your ship...is it safe ? Could it still be attacked? Or don't the game mechanics allow for that ?

Dismissing your ship should send it safely into orbit, unable to be seen by other players

If you want wake data, you are better off hanging around outside a busy station or a nav beacon. Not so many ships wake out of CZ. you won't get salvage from ships in a CZ unless you killed them yourself.
Anarchy systems usually have a blackmarket, so yes they are easier for illegal goods. Also, you won't get scanned and fined in Anarchy. I've managed to smuggle narcotics in a Type-9 without getting scanned, but I recommend a small fast ship. Outposts with blackmarkets are pretty easy to get into without a scan, except military outposts. Planetary bases are the hardest, but you can sneak in if you wait until the cops are on a break - which they announce over the coms

Thanks again buddy.

I cleared my mindset ...thought about it...and bit the bullet again...went and sold some data in a fed system, I was surprised, I got 300k for the data that also got me upgraded to scout , shot back to Carson hub...( 30 jumps ) ...but alas the meta alloys I sold there a few hours previously was already gone...so nothing else I could do but head back to Maia, another 30 odd jumps, got the meta data , then set course back to Deciat .

When I got there, I still couldn't see farseer inc, it was just a blank empty planet, then the penny dropped...I had to select it through the galaxy map, and then the system map, the purple marker icon, AFTER you press the link to the galaxy map then system map from in her message . Doh...

I had 2 interdictions , one with the cargo and one whilst totally empty and clean....other than being in an anarchy system, so I expect normal rules don't apply. I evaded them both , rather than submit and run, I simply could afford to take any damage to the ship whatsoever ...going back to my last save just wasn't an option .

I know what materials and components I need to get the upgrades, and I've watched enough YouTube videos of how to do it quickly...so next session is when I start properly and will stay there until I have level 5's .

I need a busy station to get those wake scans....finding stations is hard enough out there, finding a busy one will be harder to find than the soontill relics :)

If I had a screen capture device I would have filmed some of it....but I haven't , so memories only I'm afraid, I did take a few screenshots for my Facebook page :)

Last issue, for now anyway....is anyone having issues with Edddiscovery it seems to have packed in

It was a long grind doing it the economical route, I did try the fastest route, but was running out of refuelling stars , so there were times I was flicking between fastest and economical routes.

I sometimes think I must be typing in invisible ink. Maybe everyone just has me on their ignore list and that's why they don't take a blind bit of notice of what I say.

I used to think I was paranoid but then I found out it was just a plot by everyone to make me think I was.

Sorry Malc, I wasn't ignoring....your post about flogging the meta data was after the event...I had already sold it when I posted that and had set off in search of the soontills . I had wrongly assumed earlier that I needed the data for felicity. But I did follow your tip and sold the data and got the upgrade to level 2 selling the rest when I got to farseer .

You see Yes your just paranoid :D I listen very carefully...just not all the time [sad]
