Found some more Geysers in NGC 2682 MCA 42, this time Water Geysers on CDE 2 a @ -39.4790 / -55.4062
I drove over one and it launched me over 1200m into the air. ( @ 1:50 )

Thank you for this amazing spot. One of them launched me 700m into the air and I landed in the bottom of the canyon below. I had to launch off another one to get back up the cliff (too steep for SRV) with the gas giant on front of me at the time as I climbed.

EDIT: I've just been launched over my ship into a much bigger canyon.

@Sylon Escape pods at Anaconda's Graveyard would be interesting

We should all self destruct at the same location on a planets surface, then Frontier can add a memorial there as a persistent PoI or a marker beacon.

Found this little beauty of a moon on Saturday 21st January 3303 and submitted it to the meeting suggestions section on discord - a flat topped, purple mountain overlooking a green haze reminiscent of Drakes Ridge (DWE) and with a stunning blue gas giant in the distance. A perfect location for some SRV fun :)

See the video of some of the exploits, enjoy!

I had found my way to HD 76133 and thought I have a fly around one of those planets. Marvellous views to the rest of the galaxy. I saw some canyons - "Ooo, let's have a fly along those" - much fun was had until I boosted and didn't quite make a bend. Those 3d shields really weren't up to the job - Hull Critical- Boom - "Ship Destroyed".

At least it went with a bang. Only a 1.1m cr insurance - just one scan from the Ruins ;)

Well, I had a few things to do back in the bubble so I ended my expedition in a firey ball of death in the final expedition waypoint system.

Have to say, instancing hasn't been kind to me on this trip, literally haven't seen a single cmdr, except for the green icons on the galaxy map, I sincerely hope networking gets improved if there's a distant world's 2, not so much fun without the meet ups!

It does seem worse than it was in Distant Worlds, doesn't it? We had serious issues the one night trying to get a few of us into an instance together last week. It wasn't even a large group, just a half dozen of us. I don't really recall us having those kinds of problems on the DWE, makes me wonder how multicrew will handle it.

Well, i died too on one of the Planets in HD 76133 yesterday... i just wanted to check where the selfdestruct function was and i somehow activated it instead of just looking where the button is....
I shouldnt play Elite when im tired :<

Gonna stay in the Bubble for now to help a Friend out who is new to ED. Might get back to Elysium on Sunday for the mass suicide but i kinda ran out of Jumponium. Have to gather some stuff first.

Yeah, instancing does seem to be a problem. The only time I've seen anybody is when we've winged up. At least that works.

Damn it, finding jumponium mats is soul crushing... I found 2 units of Germanium last night in 3 hours. That's it...

Then proceeded to roll the worst possible roll in dirty drive history, and then get negative bonuses piled on top.

Time to change scenery, I think, and hopefully find jump mats...

Sorry to hear that - yeah, never Tired and Fly! Let me know where you're gathering, I want to get my mats up tonight, so I can make the journey...

We managed over 100 at one stage in DW... Maybe they have written something into the code to counter that stuff now?

What is the planned time for us to jump on our swords sunday?.
May not be around as I have to drag myself around this again, think of me as you are sat by your warm computers [big grin]

Well, there are plenty of jumponium mats up here...:D
I have been stocking up in prep for the mass fireball...I will wake up in the bubble with more than I left with.

Its actually been quite a fun experience for me.
I tended to stick to a heavy shielded, A specced, jumps low to mid 40's LY Annie for my exploration role.
But this tissue paper thin shields, held together by tape, jumps 56 LY model has real character !
And once I am back in the bubble I do believe I will take her out for a long Jaunt.
Dare I say it.... she has really grown on me [up]

I find it does add a bit off fun when you actually have to worry about it blowing up!

I had lots of fun racing my Annie through canyons on the DWE, something about knowing that screwing up means a long trip back really gets the adrenaline going.

I've had a great time on Distant Stars! Yes the instancing has been an issue, and it's something as a community we'll need to raise with Fdev.
Now I have to leave the expedition, since my own Mercury 7 Expedition starts in a bit over a month, in Colonia. So I have to go out there to prep.
May your DSE ships go out in a blaze of glory!

At 18:00 Gametime on Sunday 29th January 3303, the last survivors of the Distant Stars fleet are asked to regroup for a final farewell ceremony.

There are two locations available for this historic event.

In orbit above Arcadia, the first Earth-Like World discovered in M67.

or

The Elysium's Rest giant impact basin, which is located in a system over 200 light years above the cluster and takes two J3 Jumponium jumps to reach.

You can chose where our journey ends by voting on the linked poll on the DSE discord server.

Details of both locations are as follows :

Arcadia

This would be in low orbit above the planet. The world can sustain life so would be an obvious choice for the stranded fleet survivors to set up home (role-played obviously). And would be an interesting place to return to one day when we have atmospheric landings.

Elysium's Rest
(aka Anaconda's Graveyard)

This location is over 200 LYs further out into the void, and sits high above the cluster overlooking the galaxy below. Its a very remote and haunting place that offers the chance for some last day shenanigans in SRVs and Fighters before we all press the button.

The route to Elysium's Rest:

Travel to NGC 2682 YBP 364

106.21 LY J3 Jump to HD 74926 (You may have to burn off some fuel prior to attempting this jump)
(Do not refuel on arrival at HD 74926)

102.87 LY J3 Jump to HD 76133

I was just about to go to M67 without knowing that Distant Stars was already there. If it's possible to jump into the star cluster, it should be possible to jump out. If some of the stars are not scoopable on the return, maybe the Fuel Rats would be willing to help out? If the situation calls for it, t would be awesome to see them form a bucket brigade just to refuel ships.

Its only possible to jump back out of the cluster if you manage to use the neutron star double boost trick.

To get there you have to make a minimum of a 219Ly jump, if you supercharge your fsd using a neutron star and then jump to the cluster from within the neutron star jet you can get a 2nd supercharge which you can use to jump back, but you'd only be able to scan the one system you jumped to before coming straight back. Since there are no other neutron stars within the cluster there is no other way to return.

I'm assuming this was how Drkaii got his name on AH Cancri.

I had forgotten about neutron stars. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll find some other part of the galaxy to go explore because I want the exploration data in order to reach elite.

Maybe Frontier can have the Oresrians (peaceful Thargoids) come save everyone? Just wishful thinking.

If someone could scoop my escape pod from elysiums rest and drop me off on Arcadia, that would be great. But make sure that im out of reach of any self destruct buttons or we might not arrive :D
