There is a strong suggestion from some other quarters it is Thargoids, however the biggest doubt for the interdiction vessels being Thargoid for me is their design and shape.

The original Thargoid vessels had a very unique and readily identifiable shape, most if not all other ED ships from the original wire-frame days in the 1980's have stayed true to their game origins shape wise such as the Sidewinder, Cobra, Asp etc.

The new alien ship has a similarity in that it has 8 petals, but apart from that doesn't look like any Thargoid ship from the past.

Time will tell, no doubt, but for now I am not convinced they are Thargoid either.

Pick a petal, any petal. Draw a straight line to from the tip to the tip of the next petal. Continue all the way around...

We just have woken up something evil right here

Yup, the AI in the obelisk network will not be our friend...

See above ;)

Oh happy times, I remember that ships diagram. Yes, these alien ships are not octagonal and don't exhibit the mindless violence of Thargoids. So I think these are Guardian ships (this is 2.2 after all, & that's the title of this release) or their AI descendents.

Is anyone going to be online and at the ruins the afternoon between 17:00 and 19:00 just in case something significant does happen,

Also if anything does happen please post pics,

Cannot be there myself as I have work :(

Not saying I believe, but just in case ykwim ;)

We saw about 6 months or so ago a bug that created bookmarks in players' galmap. This could be a repeat of that bug, or it could be a bugged release of information from Ram Tah to people who participated in the last CG to get clues to more Guardian ruins.

Has anyone reported it as a bug?
Can those seeing these new bookmarks confirm they participated in the CG? Has anyone that did not participate got any of these bookmarks?
Are these bookmarks being replicated (i.e. are sveral people seeing the same location)?
Has anyone searched those sites to look for more ruins?
Assuming they are willing to search whole planets without useful surface search tools of course! (Yes, that's a dig at FD!!)

No new bookmarks for me. Looks like a nice hoax :)

Guess more likely a bug (see page 771 here) happend to me and apperantly another commander before it seems...

edit:
Evening Dudes n Dudets,
dont want to interupt your Ancient Site Science but have a (maybe sligthly stupid) question...

Is it possible that you get Bookmarks in your GalMap (the blue ones you can set yourself) after scanning a Private Data Beacon?
Scanned one yesterday at MAIA and i think i have at least one Bookmark now that wasnt there before (not sure though, had a longer ingame break and might set it accidently while being ähmmm "namereferenced" :D )
Greetz

There are no stupid questions. Think same happened to me yesterday. MAIA - additional bookmarks nearby, but I was tired, so..

Iv accounted for all my bookmarks (I think!).

Just doubtful why I bookmarked two of the HIP systems around Aditi. But more likely because I was ranking up my military with the Empire in that area.

1) "This data proves a theory I had that the written form of the Guardians' language is based around glyphs, with each glyph representing a single word. Once I've fully identified these, the process of separating tonal meanings should become much easier. The glyphs seem to be able to be combines to describe complex concepts, but also communicate additional layyers of meaning through the inclusion of movement. each glyph is a symbol. They are more abstract than pictoral hieroglyphics, but it's possible to identify a simplistic reference to the shape of the thing being described - for example, the glyph for 'moon' incorporates the waxing and waning as it would have appeared from the Guradians' homeworld."

2) "At the top of the card is the crescent Moon. It is symbolically the waning Moon, but it would only appear in the sky as portrayed in the card during a partial eclipse of the Moon."

3) Thoth is also a system in Elite Dangerous.

I do not believe in coincidence.

Here is an interesting article from the British museum, about 'The guardian-demons of the Book of the Dead': https://www.britishmuseum.org/pdf/Lucarelli.pdf

'Book of the Dead' describes a bunch of funeral spells that the deceased needed to know in order to pass into the afterlife. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_the_Dead

To be allowed in the heart is weighed and compared to a feather. This weighing is performed by Thoth and Anibus.

I don't suppose anyone who has correctly scanned all 13 base (solo) obelisks in one session has checked their bookmarks have they...?

I took part in the cg. Finished top 10%. No new bookmarks that I can see. I think it's just a bug.

They don't match the ruins technology in any shape or form or function.

Either they are Thargoids that have undergone a greater transformation from wireframe to full 3d models or they are a third race Frontier is introducing into the elite Universe.

You know how we see shapes?

All I see in the ruins from above is a crazy sort of Cubism/Picasso sort of face - almost like the Face on mars all over again.

Has anyone else managed to trigger relic sprouting with ship or only with SRV?, what is the significance of the relic on the main mound only having two exterior shards? the rest seem to be complete with three?
