Recommend me a microphone for ED

So I have purchased Voice Attack, and Iona and discovered my mic is crap.

A brief look on the net, and I crawled of the floor in shock, £139 for roccat as example.

Now I personally hate headsets, and would love a good desk type mic, but would that work with ED when the sounds are turned up, and someone is trying to liberate me of my cargo.

You could go for a mono headset, like the Logitech Mono H650. I used a Plantronics CS510 for a long time for Teamspeak while getting the game sound through a 5.1 setup. It worked pretty well. The only reason I've changed to a full headset (Corsair 2100) is because of the EDTracker.

If you want something that can sit discretely on your desk, I can't recommend the Samsung GoMic enough. Looks like something form the 50's. Clips onto flat screens/laptops. USB connection (works well in Linux too). The sound pickup is amazing for a mic of that size, and one setting picks up conversations in the next room.

I use it for videos in the rare case of me talking

I like the idea of the plantronics, I will look into it today, I was worried it would not work with the PC.

Ordered an Antlion Modmic 4.0 a couple of weeks ago. Didn't receive it yet, but I bet German customs authorities are having a good time with it. They delay things for three to five weeks at the moment.

Wow 3 to 5 weeks, that sucks.

My only recommendation would be to get something from Plantronics. They're the best microphones I ever owned.

Other brands are more like cheap microphones with some fancy plastic around, certainly not worth their price.

I bought a set of these Plantronics 86050 from Amazon (under £20), and have to say the noise-cancelling mic is excellent. In fact the whole headset is pretty darn good, especially for the low price. The audio isn't quite up to audiophile standards of course, but they're much better (imo) than the incredibly overpriced Turtle Beach PX22 tat they replaced.

:D If a Roccat is too expensive for you then I would certainly not look at the price of the Plantronics CS510, its a DECT headset so the price is pretty high. I only have it because I use it for home office days for the company.

Now I never said I could not afford it. I have know idea what DECT is, but does the CS510 connect to the PC ok ?

Yes, absolutely, you just connect to USB and it will work. We use Plantronics in our company as well, and I never had any bigger issues so far with the brand and the models. Plantronics, especially the business line, is a really good brand that just works, and it will work for a long time. I have my headset now since years and it still works like in the beginning.

Also, DECT beats Bluetooth by miles and miles. Instead of loosing connection after 5-7 meters DECT would allow you to walk away for 20+ meters and you still hear everything perfectly well.

I went to plantronics, but can't find a cs510 that connects via USB.
