Materials & Data

Top of the morning to you Cmdrs,

Does anyone know of a third party app that can easily tell me 'Live' amounts of what Mats and Data i have.

To cover a few of the answers:

Yes i know Inara has a 'Cargo' section, but you have to manually update this
Yes i know i can easily switch to the Cargo Screen and scroll down to Mats/Data/then scroll down to a particular mat/data to see my quantity

But as i have a second screen open i like to use 'An App' to show me 'LIVE' Mat and Data amounts.

Reason: when i destroy a ship we all get Mats made available, sometimes in a RES/CZ/CompNav you get Loads of loads on your contacts screen, so i would like to quickly check if i need a certain Mat/Data.

I emphasise i would like to see 'LIVE' data, not manually inserted amounts into Inara.

Thanks Guys & Fly Safe o7

That is immensely helpful, good bye printed excel sheets, thanks for sharing

No way, always need a spreadsheet. Even with EDEngineer (Which is awesome by the way!)

It may be a bit screwy on first use but once update all of the values it will be flawless.... unless you unlock an engineer with a material as thats not tracked in the journal either!

But seriously, I've been using it since decemeber and love it.

I downloaded this little add on last night and i have to say, it is BRILLIANT, just what i wanted and above all IT REALLY WORKS!!

Try it i urge you!

I just can't say enough great things about EDE - IMHO it's far and away the single best add-on for Elite that I've used. While apps like VoiceAttack and EDDI add a ton of cool stuff and immersion they don't really make gameplay easier, etc. Well VA does as I can automate a number of things there and EDDI gives great information on the system your jumping to. That said neither go as far as EDE does to expand a feature, engineering, from something I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole to something I now do routinely. I absolutely hate grinding in video games and do all I can to avoid it. I'll pretty much only do something up to the point it feels like a grind then stop. When 17 Draconis was paying out I'd do skimmer loops for about 2 hours while chatting on Discord, at that point it really started to get boring so I left and did something else for a few days. I'd then go back and do the same 2 hours then leave.

Now thanks to EDE every so often I'll check and see how close I am to a blueprint I want and based on that I'll either go engineer (if I have all I need) or I'll spend a few hours getting the items I don't have. Doing it this way, for me anyway, keeps it from feeling like a grind as I'm almost never doing the same thing over and over for an extended period. It means I make money and engineer slower than most other commanders but I feel like I'm having more fun along the way and I don't get burned out. I know several who did the grind hard for a Corvette or Cutter only to then take an extended break, say 2+ weeks, after as they just weren't enjoying the game. One friend did the Fed rank grind for about 50 hours over a 3 day weekend and it near killed him. I'll never do something like that as it's just not what I enjoy.

So if you haven't tried EDE trust me/us - you're doing it wrong.

~X
