Have we scoured that little canyon next to that crater, that is what the canyon on the original site looked like, a huge crater with a thin have circle of red that was the discolored canyons.
I really feel like this may be the planet. I'll be spending quite a bit of time out there tonight
About 3 jumps away now

Im there in open play already. gonna do a lap round the crater first

I've found some vents! Not ruins though... (XbOne)

IC 2391 Sector ZE-A D101 C 3 A
19.4989
61.8989

There are smoking vents with shootable "Spike Crystals" containing materials here.

Thought I'd mention this again while you're looking at the brain trees.
The vents are down in a deep hole.

You know what's stretching credibility, every different plant/fungus gives the same junk to fill up your mats inventory, yeah yeah, it's "alien"; I get it.

Forest of alien tree's ?

edited this a few times a couple pages back but thought it may disappear so reposting what ive found here so far

correct coords are
11.4262
48.4192

edit : just arrived at the coordinates and found the tree's there isnt just a few looks like there are hundreds across quite a large area

edit 2: some of the tree's can be targeted, they have something called "cordycep growth" on them, can be shot up and picked up, although cant find in srv cargo or materials

edit 3: never mind, when shot off they turn into other materials, so far found 3 different things on the tree's
cordycep growth - which turns to nickel, chromium, manganese, iron when shot off
mussidaen seed pod - which turns to molybdenum
phloem excretion - which turns to ruthenium

Just to add, though I've not checked out the surrounding area yet, they're concentrated inside a large crater, a nice hypothesis is seeds delivered by the meteor.

its a unique find and at least something has come out of the needle in a haystack

Most likely has been posted before but I will do another one.
I feel one sure fire way to pinpoint the ruins will be from the soft chittering noise the ruins site makes when within 8km of the sites.

What I've found about the site:

Chittering becomes notable around 7.5km up and from the site
https://youtu.be/kE1Cup5JAKI

Draw distance: Ideally 3km up and 5km away
https://youtu.be/m6fnlaArqrg

So if you find yourself on the surface of a planet and you hear that noise, stop immediately and starting scouring in an 7km radius around your location!

Also heading to check this out, so excited. Can't wait to add this site to the geyser and fumarole spreadsheet

How do you hear that over the sound of the engines?

Just to add, though I've not checked out the surrounding area yet, they're concentrated inside a large crater, a nice hypothesis is seeds delivered by the meteor.

thats an interesting theory, would explain why they are all within the crater, now we need some of you sound guru's to get out here and listen to the noises these things make

C22-17 D 1 [41.129;7.75] is unlikely to contain a ruin, as it points to a crater. The only high signature my SRV could pick up was a datapoint at [41.1705;7.79588].

11B at 25.5555, 7.75 was smack in the middle of a canyon. Took a screenshot from 6km but a lot is lost in the canyon shadow

Also while messing around with color layers, i found i can highlight areas in the picture that can help discern features. Hopefully this can be used to better spot the ruins

Again I have to ask why would tidal locking matter for LOS? Tidally locked planets still rotate, they only don't seem to rotate from when the centre is the body they orbit. However, for permanent LOS purposes we must assume the centre is the other ancient site. From the sight of the other ancient site, a tidally locked body still rotates and always faces a different direction towards the ancient site. For a permanent line of sight the poles of a target planet would need to point towards another ancient site and the ancient site would need to be near the poles. But since on the alpha ancient site the site is not near one of the poles and the stars above the ancient site always change, there can't be a permanent LOS, at least not from this ancient site.

OK - a question for you.

Why is Polaris constantly in line-of-sight from practically the entire northern hemisphere of Earth? Not just the North Pole?

The upshot is that if you stand at latitude x° north, then all stars within x° if the north pole star are permanently within line-of-sight.

I'd be using this characteristic to guide the search and narrowing down the range of surface area on each candidate planet/moon.

I know this is only artwork but just count the details:
1 - Obelisks near a hill or mountain: IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 c3a has that near the crater
2 - Planet in backdrop looks exactly IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 c3a is in orbit of
3 - Vents just like the ones in this IMAGE found on IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 c3a at 19.4989 61.8989 within about 100km of the plants.
4 - clearly not same obelisk formation on Alpha site.
