It seems really silly to choose such an attractive location for Explorers to be locked behind an Unknown Permit.

Barnard's loop and The Horse head Nebula were the targets of my first real long range trip. Having spent who knows how long seeing the loop from so far away I made the decision to get a closer look. I went and stopped at every nebula along the way in my nifty little ASP that I engineered just for the occasion. And long story short I finally made it out behind Barnard's Loop and took some screen shots from the other side. Then I made a line towards the California Nebula only to be stopped by an unknown permit after 30 or so jumps. And this kicked off a long process of slipping through the gaps and I eventually had to give up and retrace my steps back to Civilization. What was supposed to be a feeling of freedom and forging my own path felt extremely restricted and frustrating. One problem I had was the simple logistics of it. What is the lore explanation for being unable to jump there? Did some organization plant anti jump devices across an area of space this huge? It really doesn't seem humanly possible (wink wink) yeah maybe the Aliens tinkered with the stars. Or maybe its just a lazy way to stop players from going where you don't want us to be. Hopefully we get some Xeno content soon and you lift the permit entirely and we never have to worry again. But until then I would like to see our computer be able to find a route around and or out of the Restricted Zone whenever people find themselves in the neighborhood.

Barnards loop wasn't always locked. I think it was update 2.1 which has brought us the permit. But....there IS a way in if you wanna.
If you have an Anaconda with at least 60.38ly range and don't want to return......than there is a small pass that you can use to sneak in :D

Oh you can also sneak underneath barnards loop and need only 40-45ly range but...don't do it.
I have done it and there happened weird things. If you look really carefully at the other site of the permit, you can see that the stars there have a CUBIC CONSTEALLATION which is for sure aftificial

I just been to Barnard's loop. One of the systems had a security defence ship on one the planets. Also when jumping in Barnard's loop seen lot of strange stuff when jumping to other systems. Fun place.

Barnards Loop was my first exploration destination when I started out, it seems a natural choice & it is a shame a lot of it is locked off now. Definitely my favourite nebula, makes the rest just look like blobs.

Is it the biggest 'structure' in the game, or is it just perspective?

These system security ships appear everywhere! Even in Elysium on the Distant Stars expedition (which you can't reach without 55ly range and several neutron boosts) we have found a Vulture(!) system security

The Devs claimed.that the permit should have been present since beginning but it was "bugged" and they "fixed" it :D

I found a way in with even a 22.26 LY range. Just took a while. One of the waypoints in the Crab Nebula Expedition was in there. I'm not really sure what the point of trying to close it off is.

Placeholder is the only reason. These systems probably have lore/handcrafted assets that are placed or need to be placed that aren't ready yet and locking them is the only way to keep us out of them. Could be an area where the stellar forge went crazy and it needs to be fixed as well I suppose. Whatever. :p

That reminds me of the rectangle of brown dwarfs past the heart and soul nebulae, in the nearly empty expanse between the galactic arms out there. Awfully jarring seeing stars in a formation like that.

Lore and story changes happening here soon. Cue Alien theories and tinfoil hats.

It is easiest to access by going above and around the permit sector, do-able in 25ly ship, easier the higher your jump range.

Same reason the moon isn't landable or one of the planets in the Lave cluster (Leesti 2 from memory?)

True, it's a shame its now inconvenient to go there.

Its the perfect starter exploration trip, not only because of the 'Loop itself which is magnificent, but also because of its proximity to the bubble, and the large amount of major POIs on the way there.

Im out by the dryman sector (its a massive permit locked region 28k ly from both colonia and sol) the fact it forms a trianlge at that distance is interesting, im currently scouting as many systems around the outside as i can in the lead up to 2.3
