I was in Maia, can't remember the system name but was heading away from it to HIP bla bla bla, about 10 jumps with an Unknown Artefact in the cargohold.
Nothing happend so i decided to go back and boom....on my way back they got me :)

When people first started reporting them I did hundreds of jumps in and around the nebula. With an empty cargo hold, with a UA, with a UP, with Meta-alloys, and a combination of them all. Hundreds. For days and days. Eventually I gave up. Whatever conditions the game uses to determine if you were to get hyperdicted, clearly I never met them. Since then I've been playing normally, I was ranking up Palin so I was near Maia a lot. Probably added a good 50 more jumps around the area. Still nothing. I'm 99% certain it'll never happen for me. Which makes me sad cause I really wanted to see it in the Oculus.

I feel it's more likely set to happen on X number of CMDR's through an area, as one of it's triggers. 1000's of people went to find them at first, so obviosuly it will seem like it's happening more often. I suspect it's statistically happening at the same rate

They haven't, I got hyperdicted on my way to palin just a couple days ago.

Just let it happen OP. You can search for hours and find nothing, or you can go about your daily ED life and enjoy it naturally.

I tried both. 80 jumps in an Asp that was nothing but a waste of time compared to a nice change of pace while I was dragging my Gunship 200ly out of the bubble. I know which one I enjoyed more.

Haven't been hyperdicted myself, as I was busy in other parts of the galaxy, but they got a nice vid about a project named Timelapse there which might be helpful:

Most interdictions seem to happen inside the UA shell (150ly around Merope) along a line from Merope to Sol.

And hyperdictions seem not to have stopped, as the latest entry is from today. Here's the list of all hyperdictions tracked so far:
