[VIDEO] New Meta? Hybrid Clipper Brings the Dank in PvP

Did you watch the video? Did you see how long it took him to get my shields down, and then how quickly they came back up? I lost only 8% hull in between first shield drop and shield reforming. There's much more advantage in the Clipper than just hull tanking and ramming now.

Lots of lovely internals for those module protections too.. How well do you find your guns stand up to missile attack when your shields go down? I presume you have high resistance shields to get as much as possible from your size 7 recharge while still allowing it to be small and come back quick?

Is anyone planning on doing a FAS revival video? Since Clippers and Cobra MkIII's can now hold their own against the almighty FDL meta I would be greatly interested in the opinion of the more experienced PvPers on how the FAS might now be able to compete again.

Can its suddenly gargantuan shields be explained from a stat perspective?

This is one of the problems for 2.1 You have no idea what your opponent has going. That FDL could have been rocking G5 OC weapons or low level trash ejectors.

Don't get me wrong, all for the iClipper. As I said, just revived mine, AND to boot gave it a build with more care put into shields. But I know that I am using alternative techniques, not "meta" material.

It's all about the recharge (both formed and broken). When formed, my shields regen faster than 1% per second. Everytime we make a pass and there's not sustained fire, my shields go up about 15-20%.

Yes, targeting of weapons with missiles is one of the biggest dangers of the build. I pack a MRP, and I have an AFM to repair it to combat module damage from missiles. However, the quick broken regen rate allows for only a small window for someone to put missiles on me. Usually I just have to withstand a single volley before my shields are back up.

Check my video playlist. I've built a FAS since the new patch. Mine is good... but it struggles against the absolute best meta FDL's a bit. From a hybrid perspective the bi-weave isn't near as good. It also has less armor, even with the extra compartments. The hardpoint placement is better, which is nice, but defense wins battles and the Clipper has the advantage there. Bottom line... you can make a good FAS, but it won't be the best ship out there all things being equal. Here's a vid of my FAS vs. a decent FDL... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBW9mzbd7iw

Would pay good credits to see that happen, but all the iClipper really has over the FDL is hull tanking and rammability. Now the hull tanking is being cared for it certainly shapes up better, and I've revived my one, but I just don't see what puts it in meta position over FDL.

Seriously though, add CMDR StiTch! if it pleases you. Always up for a duel.

I'm always up for some fun with weird builds. Not gonna get online till tomorrow evening though so I may forget so if you're online add sewerrat

So that is my concern. Do you have any footage of such a build against a high dps/ToT FDL?

No, but I've done the fights. One of our guys has a meta-FDL (~2,000MJ max resist shields) and we fought. The match was closer than the video posted, but it wasn't a really close fight. The Clipper won hands down.

I read the above as a hybrid FAS vs hybrid Clipper the Clipper wins. Do you feel a hybrid Clipper or full hull tank FAS is better at the moment? Fully engineered that is.
