THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Guys.

Now. I Know you are going to HATE this.

Any ELWs systems found will have to be fully mapped, as Beacons have been found orbiting random planets in a Base system.

Please front page this.

Nice. So Sidewinder from FE/FFE jump range matters.

36 ly with class 2 hyperdrive AND fuel scoop capable? I'd guess fuel scoop was not installed otherwise it's a straight shot back to Earth and retire rich and famous.

She had no fuel scoop. If she had, she would have returned to the bubble.
She also probably had the small hyper drive. 2b drives used cargo space, with the big one she would have little room for the beacon and fuel.

OK! So the whatever is in the rift is not a "POI"... Drew said he made it a myth like raxxla. Just that we know more about it. And there's more than just finding the "x" thing.

@lorrad - I don't think Cuthrick needs to be a Walden clone - what he needs is access to Walden's cloning tech perhaps. Then place his clone/creation in the right family, then start the process of nurturing. Even better if the clone was a descendant of Marlin. There I said it.

Sorry to quote myself... but to clarify: I don't necessarily believe this - i am just throwing out ideas.

To add something to the pot - one of the characters in Lave: Revolution is a blue haired Imp girl from a wealthy Imp family. Albeit she ran away, but the co-incidence is intriguing.

Drew also just confirmed to me that all the bases we are finding are like how Jaquces was supposed to be played out. Find hints. then lead us to one main location.

Which leads back to the Thoth message from last week. A reminder that there was a way to find Jaques. We just didn't find the clues until after.

I tried to look at how far you could get with 9 ly drive using economic route navigation, didn't seem far. Certainly no earhlikes in range, but if really strained, there were water worlds and ammonia worlds in 20 ly vicinity. We do know our flower friends like ammonia.

Yea, Drew mentioned we missed clues to figuring this out, and the brute force method was circumventing using the in game mechanics/clues...so take that for what it's worth.

This should be step 1 before going further. We need to find out what we are missing so we don't spend man-years searching for a needle in a haystack in a barn in a state in a... you get the idea. So... what could possibly indicate A) systems and B) planet coordinates that we have ALL missed?

what kind of message? never heard of it.

It's extremely tinfoily. But Ed and Dav's stream from last week had a message at the end that led to a crashed T9 with the call sign Bravo Gamma Sierra (BGS). Dav is a BGS/server guy. Here's the really tinfoily part, the ship was carrying 419 copies of a book on simulating the background. Someone (I don't remember who) looked on pg 419 of Elite: Tales from the Frontier and the system mentioned, Wendigo had a news article in the station that could've led us to Jaques.

Right this might be important... might not be, i'm just jotting it down in case something is relevant.

Drew has just said that he is going to name his ship Eurydice, who was a nymph in Greek mythology.

There is a whole Wiki page on her, Drew could be giving us one of his famous 'cryptic' clues. It's the way he said it, "If you don't know who she is, look her up, she's quite interesting".

As i said could be nothing, so take this with a grain of salt.

Ok gotcha, that's a workable story. The Empire crumbling and decadent, the emperor is illegitimate by its own standards, the court is myopticaly focused only on themselves and trivialites so let's try a second coming of Marlin to save the day and revitalize the Empire to her original intent and get rid of her brothers line of genetic psychopaths. [old school here psychopaths are born, sociopaths are made]

Listening to the podcsat atm gonna have a look a Lave Revolution. It was Cuthrick who interviewed the 'boy' who was astounded to meet someone who didn't look like him if I recall. That was too early of a dead giveaway.

How ironic: my Asp Explorer that I'm currently flying on the Distant Stars Expedition is called Eurydice and she's going to stay in M67 - after I crash or hit the self-destruct on Sunday, her replacement will be the Orpheus. There were two sources that inspired my choice of names. Firstly, the tale of Orpheus, as I remember it:
Orpheus went to the Underworld after Eurydice died and played for Hades, persuading him to release her to the world of the living, providing that Orpheus did not look at her as he escorted her back; he gets to the edge of the Underworld and looks back to see if she is still there and loses her forever.
Secondly, there was the final episode of Ulysses 31:
Ulysses meets Orpheus at the edge of the Kingdom of Hades, where he is searching for Eurydice. In the Kingdom of Hades, the people they meet are all dead and contact with them is fatal but they manage to make their way to the palace of Hades where they see Eurydice being transported on an escalator, presumably to join the deceased population, and Orpheus rushes to embrace her and joins her in death.
I wonder what fate will have in store for my Orpheus?

So the big question now is, do all of us Rifters head to the Gap or Conflux, or stay around here and search for more stuff?

You've only found the expedition bases; there's still the Mystery to solve which has been there since the original game gamma; these bases are horizons-dependent & therefore not "it".
Gentlemen, good luck, you have to locate & face the Lurking Evil!

Habitable world from beta site confirmed as earth like world?

There aren't any earth likes in the beacon systems, unless they're talking about an earth like world that doesn't stay in one place.

Raxxla? Does Raxxla do that?

Raxxla was supposed to move in time and space, but as far as I remember it was not an ELW

SO
It could well be that Reclamation's old lady was working on the dynasty/exodus expedition, out dropping off (strange) beacons & got back to her support ship (presumably one of the anacondas) to find it destroyed. Maybe the message she recorded was nit transmitted in the EAFOTS GL-Y E2 system but was recorded there for us to find (& probably Salome, guessing after she disappeared & before she went off onthe Beagle Point expedition?)

Ship names - Maybe a crown (diadem) concealed (velum) by a cloak (vestimenta)? Perhaps a signal that the "escort" ships were loyal to Kahina and the ambush was a ruse to cover her extraction?

That actually makes sense. It always bothered me how something could supposedly take out a Cutter and 4 Clippers without leaving behind any debris of its own and before any of the ships escaped or reinforcements arrived. I had assumed it was some form of cover up, or an encounter with something beyond any known current human technology (insert "aliens" meme here).

I highly doubt she's dead, though. Not much of a story if the main character is killed halfway through.
