Neutron stars....where?

Hi folks. I am at present working on advancing my "Explorer" rank and am about 1/4 of the distance to Colonia from the bubble. I've come across 1 Neutron star in over 300 jumps. I used it to try an overcharged jump just to see if I could do it without wrecking my ship (practice) and did pretty well. That star was within the first 95-100 jumps outside the bubble and I haven't come across any more so far.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the ratio of non sequential stars was to any number of the others. I initially thought that perhaps the ratio might be the 1/100 in which I came across the first one but that was mistaken thinking.

I'll stop occasionally and turn off all filtering in the galaxy map except for the Neutron stars and still can't locate any but for the one I've already found. Just curious.

Thanks,
Bizz

Once you are halfway, you should find them to jump with all the time. They are more sparse until then, and I got trapped in a hole about 6000 light years out from the bubble (about where you are now), so best avoided in that bare patch of stars you might see beneath you. Drop down from Sakaqawea a few hundred light years and you will find them all the way to Colonia.

There were many around the first Colonia Highway service outpost. I'd suggest filtering the GalMap to show only O's, B's and non-sequence stars, and roaming around. You'll eventually find some more (check on the system info for companion star types, they're not always the first star you get to in the system).

They are more prevalent if you got ~1000ly above or below the plane.

If you explicitly seeking them for fast travel try Spansh's Neutron-based route plotter.

This ^^ but generally speaking the fields of neutrons where you can hop from one to the other start about 7kly from the bubble and generally form a massive circle above and below sag a

They do extend closer to the bubble but it's harder to use them for fast travel as you need to plot slightly diverted courses to get to them which negates any increased jump range as they are too far apart and at 1kly below/above zero the stars are not as dense leading to sporadic plots not utilising your fsd range

Again thanks for the info. It's good to know all this. At present, as I said, I'm working on Exp. rank but when I burn on jumping from system to system on infinitum I'm going to locate a few more Neutron stars and try to do some real distance.

By the way does anyone one know if Colonia has an "Outfitting" garage anywhere...I could use a change of modules.

Jaques has outfitting, but the range of modules available is limited. If you really needed something special at the other end, or to be sure of fitting a particular module, it would be best to buy before you fly, store it and ship it there using the module transfer.
