As you know, the big boom is coming. It has been a wonderful getaway holiday to M67 and we've charted it VERY thoroughly. I am so happy and proud.

But we need to decide how we want to go out.

I've created some options to vote on, but I am also happy for more suggestions and will look at the comments to see how popular they are.

Let's decide! Boom time is 18:00 gametime, sunday!

I support that everyone hover around 10 km altitude on the highest g land able planet in that system. Everyone turn off their drives and shields at same time and we all fall to planet, someone could film it from surface in srv. Before that those who have fighters should have planetary cqc tournament with fighters. We could also do srv race.

Or we all could ask frontier support to move everyone back to the bubble as they seem to do that a lot for many people.

Its a peaceful mission so i do not think a shootout would look good.

It would be grate if FD would place some condas and asps to be discovered in space and on the ground.

Im not there with you, but i would like to see everyone blow up by 1 second intervals. You could position yourself somehow that the explosions make somekind of pattern when the ships blow up. THAT would be cool. :D
Its just really hard to synchronize but its doable..

Don't take this as a suggestion, since it's not practical for a group event or YouTube video.

I've seen a few people self destructing early and I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of blowing up my ship.
Now I've never really been an RP player. But in this case I can't help but think of it from an RP perspective.
If I were marooned in the void, with no hope of return or rescue and resolved to end it all ...

I would probably park my ship somewhere, on a surface or in orbit, where it might be found someday, and shut off all systems, including life support.
I could quietly fall asleep at the con and slowly freeze to death, or lay down in an escape pod for what will likely be a permanent suspended animation awaiting a rescue that will never come.

On the other hand, capitol ships could jump in and out of M67 and there may be a fleet of capitol ships who patrol the galaxy rescuing downed pilots.
Or do pilots federation members automatically download into a waiting clone to resume their lives?
What is the fictional system by which we miraculously return to our last docked station?

As an outsider, can I suggest lined up and in sequence, like a gun salute :)

Thought of another one, diving into the local star in formation (I'm enjoying this rather too much).

Got an idea: Split into two sections, the fallers and the victims. Victims will stay on ground, parked as close as possible to each other with shields off. Fallers will fly high enough over victims, then will turn off shields and flight assists. Victims from ground will observe, record and photograph the BIG BANG! :) It's raining snakes, halleluyah!

Possible survivors may be finished from SRV's. But if the ships will be stacked good enough, there will not be many of them...

Destruction Derby sounds awesome, but I am very much imagining a subtle hilarity in all thrusters going off and several big ships silently falling like flies.

And ofc "that one plank" that is sure he did it right, but awkwardly survived the fall as his mates are consumed by conflagration.

I'll be at the graveyard on sunday, but won't be able to participate as i'm going to be going out at the meetup time. I'll figure something out.

The whole idea of self-destruction is uncomfortable to me.
Maybe wait for an expansion that adds a mechanic to get home?

I unceremoniously turned flight assist off while above a mountain and watched myself bounce of the mountain and roll to the bottom, I was surprised that my unshielded DBx managed one large impact and 4 rolls before exploding, committing suicide on mass feels a little awkward and beside on Xbox the distant stars expedition was deadly silent with everyone hiding in isolated private groups so after scanning most of the systems I "signed off" so to speak early last week

If there are any stars which are likely to go supernova in the future I'd suggest you feed yourselves to it, and then in a few hundred million years nature will return you.
