Little things that annoy

Well, they annoy me. Not that I expect anything to be done about it, mind you.

1. Automatic scaling on the scanner* and analogue velocity/throttle indicator. I am used to instruments behaving themselves. If they change scales there should be discrete changes. Not sliding up and down on their own linked to velocity.

2. The way that the galaxy and system maps do not remember the last tab I looked at. The time to open a map is variable making it useless to use in a macro. At least to me.

3. The way the left and right panels do remember the last tab making it difficult to write macros. Yes, you can put them back at the end of the macro but it can only be run from that position. A reset binding would be nice.

4. An inability to switch off the jump lines in the galaxy map. They can obscure nearby stars.

5. An inability to clear the comms screen of old messages. I don’t care if she can’t go through with the marriage nor if he hasn’t written his vows.

6. Not being able to see old Info messages after they have scrolled up.

These are a few of my favourite things.

* Not talking about the sensor zoom.

1. Sensor has already been addressed, but what's wrong with your throttle indicator?

2. & 3. kind of contradict themselves IMO.

As far as I know, macros should not be used and Frontier doesn't like them to be used, so I like that they remember it.

4. Do you mean the route lines between the stars? You can turn these off - just de-select economic and fastest routes (it remembers the last option selected).

5. Thanks Kayweg! That has been bugging me for ages!

I have not noticed. Maybe my description does not explain properly what I mean.
I will check.

They do and that is why I put them together. It is inconsistent.

Thanks, I remember now.

Point 4a. These switches look like radio buttons not checkboxes. ;)

Do you have a source for that? I vaguely remember something about along those lines.

Being stuck in hyperspace/supercruise with no ability to use the menu to quit. Grr

It doesn't happen enough to me for it to register.
I don't suppose that visiting the Ctrl Alt Deli in hyperspace counts as Combat Logging but it would be annoying.

I didn't look up the exact paragraph out of ED's EULA, but it's a common EULA item in pretty much every game you come across.
The part where you're prohibited to use 3rd party software, automated processes...that sort of thing.
It's of course mainly aimed at bots and cheat engines, but strictly speaking Macros fall under that paragraph, as your keyboard and mouse, stick, HOTAS (or whatever else you use) runs off 3rd party software.
I know, sounds ridiculous at first glance.
On the plus side, no company actually pursues customers for using harmless/QoL Macros, say like macro-ing your docking request in ED for example.
But it is somewhat of a "grey area" and difficult to administrate, and i think that's why they don't bother much with it.
Afterall, we all need to operate some sort of input device that requires software to run.
If you feel like digging around a bit, it's an old topic and discussed to death many places.
Bottom line, i wouldn't worry too much about it.;)

Thanks, I am new to modern gaming and these things passed me by in times gone by. ;)
I wasn't worried as FD have positively encouraged 3rd party software to enhance the game. (FD changed their policy to disallow data scrapping in Elite Dangerous.)

A little thing that annoys me is the lack of scientific modules to promote players doing research on planets, stars, asteroids, space ...

Yep. Can I add one? I actually have about five, tiny things and relatively easy fixes I imagine (as labels) but every time I see them I think, no?

1. Left Panel (button) Galactic Powers .. links to Galnet and Powers .. Powers are news but the News is more than just Powers (and includes CG's and more). Please relabel the panel button to .. Galnet?

Bit of a logic fix here and there? :D

Interdictions are way too numerous and rarely a threat

The srv's thrusters provide upward thrust regardless of the srv's position

Cant target ground stuff with my ship or slf

Majority of slf pilots look like crackheads

Being forced to deploy my cargo scoop on my anaconda while collecting in a cz with limpets even though this jams my huge mc right trough it and the limpets dont even deliver to the scoop but to another belly side hatch that remains closed

Getting interdicted a split second before disengage while going 30km/s and ending the interdiction 200 km from station only to be warped 36.8 ls away

Autodock seems to be blind to the structures inside a high tech or refinery station

Cant sort missions

Align with target bug when engaging supercruise without a target selected

Cant dumbfire seekers
Cant make turrets hold fire without retracting hardpoints

While fa-off approaching a planet surface reversing thrust does nothing at all no sound no effect no nothing enable fa again and your thusters come roaring back to life and the ship comes to a full stop without any further input

Loitering being a crime punishable by death is just dumb. No human run facility would risk the collateral damage to the staion just to gun down a pilot who might be having a heart attack or something
System security tug boats should retrieve the ship and the pilot should be executed somewhere else if it turns out he was just being a and not suffering some debilitating medical condition

The sheer number of ships in any class being gunned down within the airlock is an immersion breaker for me as it simply lacks humanity and realisticly should pose a threat to the staion and its inhabitants
