Where the love?

I've noticed that alot of people are constantly asking for more in ED. Theres so many people demanding issues are sorted and content is created.

The game is not immersive enough, npcs have no life to them, my ship window is shaped funny, why cant we have auto pilot for long missions, why cant i carry an asp in my annie.

Does any body actually sit back and appreciate the game anymore?

I've recently cleared my save, im currently piloting an abysmally kitted eagle. I struggle in fights, I now have to think about my jumps and whether or not I'll make it to the next starion. The jump range is so bad that i could cover 1,000lys in an asp with the same amount of jumps it takes me to do 200. And you know what? Im loving it.

People get so bogged down in what elite isn't doing compared to rival games. They are fixated on what isn't there, and not focusing on what there is. Im happy with the game, yeah some things could do with tweaking but it works right?

Its a game, if i remember correctly it was stated that Elite : Dangerous was a game where you make your own role. You be who you want to be! not to follow a storyline to save a princess whos chilling out with some big turtle. I dont want a game i can finish, im happy being in a game that grows as i do, where i never have to hang it up just because ive completed it.

Im sorry for the rant, but I just want to be one of the few pilots this day and age to thank Frontier. You're doing a good job so far. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be whatever i want to be.

Regards,
Commander ShiverZ HD o7

This game isn't about love.

It's about loneliness, despair and hate!

You are all alone in this vast universe. You can not own land or home, or station. And no matter how many NPCs you'll kill there's always more! You can't hope to make any difference.

Immortal being trapped in the lifeless galaxy...

Yes... And we have for 2+ years... But when addition after addition starts to just add more and more fluff, what you've been playing in for 2+ years just starts to feel a little tired? Worryingly, things rather than appearing as a placeholders, start to feel more and more like "all done!"

Hands up, this is the game I have been waiting for since sliding a great big floppy into a huge beige box back in 1984 (yes, that was supposed to sound filthy). It's the galaxy that I saw in my head when I was playing CMDR Jameson with a wireframe Cobra on a 12" CUB Monitor. As far as I am concerned, Frontier have given me everything I want... but, for all its perfection, there are always improvements I'd like to see.

Note "like to see", not "keep banging on about it in the forums" or "throw insults at the devs for not doing what I want in the next patch".

I'm proud of Elite. I'm proud of Frontier and The Braben. This whole thing (gestures expansively) at once reminds me of my childhood and inspires me with patriotic fervour.

Keep up the good work, FD. I'm proud of what you've done, so I bet you are, too.

Now, about that Mining Boa...

Many a true word spoken in jest.

I think a lot of us are just very passionate about the game, and the franchise overall, so naturally that passion tends to come out.

I know for myself, I consider Elite Dangerous the best space sim game ever made, and I own most of them. That said though, I also find Frontier’s development so far to be frustrating at times, making decisions to work on aspects of the game that are already in a great spot while ignoring other aspects which go ignored or have languished.

Its a forum for players passionate about Elite.

We can be passionate about combat, or trading or exploration or ship kits or missions, or griefing or PvP or lack of space beverages.

The fact that we are passionate, shows that this game means something to us.

If we didnt like it, we wouldnt play it and wouldn't post here.

And because we are passionate, we post rants, tirades, open letters, pictures, snide remarks, rep, lols and gibberish.

Its highly likely that it doesn't make one iota of difference to what will be developed.

But maybe, just maybe, some of it makes sense, is rational, is sensible and is implementable, maybe it was already in an ideas notebook of an Frontier employee, then something more wonderful could come out of the froth uis passionate players post here and make this a better game.

I like what we have, but if there is an intention to imnprove, why not talk about what you want to improve, you don't lose anything by expressing an opinion.

Its good to see many people share the same mind (except you Dusty, i get the feeling i dont wanna be in your mind haha).

I just wanted to actually talk about good points of the game and overall the enjoyment it gives. Also to just let Fdevs that theyre doing a brilliant job.

Im sure its nice for them to see people writing on how they like the game. I know we all would ask for more (naturally, as someone stated ED is a drug and we just want another fix), but let them know we enjoy the game.

Apologies for my tree hugging ways... i just havent seen a tree for such a long time my love must go somewhere else hehe.

I dunno, ELITE can get away (and actively does) with alot of things. That's the exclusive privilege this title has.
However... A title carrying this name also comes with the burden of high expectations.

Seeing it fall far behind in many (clearly visible) everyday aspects that even often wouldn't be hard to fix, tone down or hide...
Well, I can't blame anyone for raising their voice when encountering some of the bizarre omissions or inconsistencies we get to see every day (they might not be big in nature, but their high frequency and visiblity can easily make them an issue Players might want to be addressed).

Hoping those are addressed and improved upon to bring them up-to-spec to a level one can rightfully expect for a 2017-played title is perfectly understandable.

For me, it's often the little things. But personally, I also see the heavy focus on Combat- or Multiplayer-exclusive Features with a rather critical eye.

But as usual, personal mileage will vary on these points.

Dont misunderstand, im not crticising those that ask for new content or request issues to be addressed. Not at all, its their right to share opinion and i dont begrudge that. We all have wants, needs and desires for the game.

All I'm saying is that although everyone here is passionate about Elite, not many people share that anymore. Im just trying to share my opinion and thank the devs for their work.

I still understand much needs to be done and that many people want to share their two cents to help make Elite Dangerous even greater then what it is now.

Well, we do have a princess (with blue hair), but good catch on the turtle. FDev does need to step up their game on big turtle content.

Seriously though, people who love the game don't have time to troll the forums - they are too busy playing. So you get skewed view.
