THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

This! But a huge part of me wants to stay here. I'm on the verge of checking around Persophone in Sol, I recall someone saying something about a connection there to do with the rift. And somewhere else... cant quite remember where that somewhere else was.

Hi G4RY

If you follow the mythology side of the story then the Rift can be interpreted as the Underworld / Land of the Dead. Apparently Drew has reinforced that concept in the recent podcast, where he referred to naming his ship 'Eurydice'. Eurydice was rescued by Orpheus from the Underworld after her death (Wiki link... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurydice).
Persephone if the Greek goddess of the Underworld, and Persephone station (Avalon system) was part of the original Kahina Galnet storyline.

We know the mythology side is significant, both the Greek and the Babylonian (Inanna/Ishtar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inanna), but nobody has yet been able to parse this into something concrete.

My theory is that the dynast expedition was performed by Sirius or MetaDrive, for two details, the first is the Raan Corsen documents that mentions the word "EXODUS", second, months earlier Sirius said he was sending probes to the Deep space, would Dynast v2 be? Would it be a safer and new version of it? Since the one of 30 years ago did not work very well.

For me, everything is connected, SIRIUS, METADRIVE, RAAN CORSEN, RIFT, GAP, CONFLUX, DYNAST.

Had the same thought, especially, while reading through the Galnet articles about the Antares

However: Don't mix up the FSD "Modes". Supercruise is like the Warp Drive in Star Trek, while the Hyperdrive is more like Star Wars / Stargate.

Supercruise is based on the Alcubierre Drive, which - as you said - shifts the frame of space so, that the space in front of the ship is compressed and expanded behind the ship. Since there aren't different "folds" (the folding is "fluid"), it doesn't move forward with the thrusters. A good analogy would be a current in a river. The Water around moves and pulls you along - in this case, the Frameshift moves the frame of space the ship is in, like pulling on a rope, while sitting in a boat. Supercruise relies on Einstein's field equations or general relativity - so, pretty normal physics, nothing especially fancy, since it doesn't involve Quantum Mechanics (see Alcubierre drive - those are "real" theoretical physics).

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c4/Alcubierre.png/800px-Alcubierre.png

Hypercruise on the other side punches a hole through space - it's a wormhole. How this exactly works, is open for debate, at the moment the theories range from Quantum Foam, to Dark Matter over to the Quantum Field Theorie. How you would determine entry and exit point of the wormhole is a completely different matter. I've read Stephen Hawkings "Universe in a nutshell" countless times, but i still haven't fully understood wormholes, or at least how you could control them. But, since apparently Wormholes are inherently unstable and they need to use "exotic matter" to stabilize them, this ties in very well with Elite Lore:

In Elite Lore, the first long range "jumping" started around 2800, with so called "Faraway Orientation Systems Controllers" - they had defined entry and exit points, so the "Wormhole" was kept open and were not generated by the ships.

By 3125 the first hyperdrives for ships started appearing - they used so called "quirium" as exotic matter to stabilize the Hyperspace Conduit and were "Type 2b Hyperdrives". Only the "Galactic Cooperative" had the "recipe" for quirium. However, the Galactic Cooperative took it to it's grave, and these "small" Hyperdrives where lost until 3290. We all know what happened to the Prism System because of Tantalum - the new "exotic material" (at least, that's my guess). They are called "Type 3 Hyperdrives".

Another guess of mine is, that the Antares used something like a "2c Hyperdrive". We also know, it is possible to stay in that Hyperspace Conduit or "The Space between the Universe" - Thargoids have to power and knowledge to use that. We also know, the Guardians appear to be extremely sophisticated. I wouldn't be surprised, if they have mastered all of this too.

Maybe those expeditions were for a combination of the "Faraway" travel and "2b Hyperdrives", so you could jump from the bubble to somwhere in the Formidine Rift in a matter of seconds, to establish these Orientation System Controllers out there.

Also, since Drew Wager seems to be as fascinated by those theories, as i am, i'd say it is not a very far stretch, that all this, the Formidine Rift, Sirius Corp., Salomé and so on have something to do with Hyperspacetravel, Witch-Space (or the Space between the Universe - some actual scientists have theorized, that this is some kind of quantum level) and maybe even another species, living inside that realm - maybe the Formidine Rift is some sort of very special part of space, where these edges are not as constant, as they are anywhere else (AFAIK, this was suggested somewhere...).

This brings me to another speculation...has anyone every looked for black holes, anomalys or anything else around there? Especially, since apparently you can find the mystery for quite a long time now...

(Edit and Disclaimer: I am just a very big Sci-Fi Nerd, i love science and i tried to study something that had to do with all this - but i dropped out after the third Semester, i'm just to impatient for the maths behind all that stuff...i may be wrong about the Wormhole Stuff. As i said, i haven't even fully understood the real theories behind them. So if we have some "real scientists" around here, that understand the Science behind the Wormholes, i'd love a correction of things that are wrong ;) )

Sirius Corporation: "We Accidentally the Whole Galaxy"

I wonder if you could see a rip in spacetime from several systems away?

Come to think of it, think of the prize. Who needs to find Raxxla when you can build your own?

First, could the not gates be a protective cover where an excavation point would be? Maybe excavating landing pad/hangar area?

Secondly, where does the word "Remember" fit in all of this as it's all over the RiftMyth.

I think those gates dont mean anything since they can be found at any surface base in the bubble. Its more likely that this was added by a designer without any reason why, those people tend to do thinks like that.

Thanks man! Yeah i noted about Eurydice a few back in this thread, i was listening in to the podcast myself. But i think everyone only listens to people with a big green bar underneath their name by the looks of it :(
I will check this Wiki Asap.

Right, so we have Persephone (planet) in Sol and Persephone station in Avalon. I never knew about that station  I'm just going to check out a hunch of mine anyway to where this woman from Delta site might have gone. I mean i'm only going off what the Delta Logs have said, to me it adds up.. maybe? ha ha i don't know anymore.. but it's worth a check.

About the gates... maybe the settlements had temporary pressure tents over them during construction. And these gates were pressure locks for docked vessels. I always thought it's a very strange design for them, you have to wear a pressure suit for going between modules.

"We had no choice but to take them offline as they hadn't renewed their broadcasting licence. We will restore their broadcasting privileges once the appropriate charges have been paid."

Could it be that in Tionisla system a misson would be generated to pay the broadcasting licence? So the rest of the message would be released by the EM-transmission technology enthusiasts like they did whit the first one. I'm in populated space and i will pass by Tionisla to see if i spot any thing in there.

Great shout. We need to work out how to get the broadcasts back online. Could be missions, could be trading in stuff to raise the wealth of the settlement... any other ideas?

Are those "Hamsters" linked to any faction ? If yes, should be usefull to help them gain influence.

There's also a Persephone system.
One terraformed Earth-like world.
It's been my base of operations since 2.1

Nice! Thanks man. Added to the list of things to check, this mystery has consumed me now  I'm dying to find out how it all fits together into the answer.

Reposted in full in case someone wants to scroll through it

So, thinking in terms of breadcrumbs, in a manner that I hope will inspire lateral thought:

1) The mystery started with the CG that lead to these three zones (Fromidine, Conflux, Hawking's).

2) Those zones led to the discovery of unregistered beacons, indicating the planetary location of mission rally points.

3) The mystery ends (for now) with the discovery of these bases and the information those bases provide. (Note, it's entirely possible that all the logs will actually lead to something even bigger, but we're not there yet).

4) We've been told that we missed a step by brute forcing the discovery of this end point.

Assuming I haven't missed anything, then that means we missed something between 2) and 3). But where could that be?

Theories so far:

1) the unregistered beacons have more information than we first assumed (Embedded in the sound? Physically on the beacon?)

2) the planetary coordinate are found separately from another source. If so, where?

2.1) One theory is that they could be hidden as GalNet articles, most likely in a local system. But which one? So far contenders listed are:
Tionisla
Persephone
Avalon (Persephone Station)
Ishtar (Inanna / Seven Veils)
Ereshkigal (Babylonian equivalent of Persephone)
Prism
Sol
Wherever Salome was going to be locked up

2.2) But where else could the co-ordinates be found besides GalNet? Is there any other means of consistant reliable information being given to players?

Following up on this, someone suggested typing in local with the unreagistered beacons in case that triggered something. Can that work? I noticed a distinct lack of feedback from it. How did the initial code get released? Nope! Thanks Worom for checking this! Typing does nothing, but how did the initial code get released? Is there another avenue that could have been missed along similar lines?

Back in the bubble, has anyone checked the stations and asteroid fields around the Tionisla star yet?

Someone mentioned another possible lead that came from the regular GalNet feed about a ship that crashed in Alioth. Has that ship been found before as part of the Tip Off missions we sometimes get?

wow lot of pages since yersteday...
Actually i m looking for a sidewinder or beacon or something in the Rift (reference to the only survivant that tried to reach the ELW)
Is this still actuality? (i see in 1st page that yes but i see lot of posts talking about SOL and around so i prefer asking)
Thanks for answers

Just tried talking to one of the Beacons the one for the delta site, no response back

I have a very strong suspicion - given all the conspiracies and murder already surrounding Dynasty/Exodus - that they were probably taken offline using a railgun, and are unlikely to be paying the renewal charges any time soon. Wreckage sites might be a more likely place than the bulletin board to find clues, if there are any.
