Many would label Christianity and Catholicism a cult too. The only differentiation between a cult and a religion is size and popularity.

Wow! You really would should do some reading on cults before making broad sweeping statements like that. Cults have specific characteristics based on the opinions of experts who deprogram people who have gotten caught up in them.

Just wondering if that is really necessary. It is a cult and having references in there is something I do not find particularly funny.

Just FYI, but most religions at least as they are currently do not really work well with the concept of humans living other places then earth.
Most creation myths kinda go right out the window when you are standing on a planet several hundred light years from earth that is vastly different and older then earth.

Feel free to create your own in game religion and work to spread it in game though.

I think at best current religions would have changed dramatically at this point in history where Elite takes place.

Nonsense, 1000 yrs would take away peoples personal beliefs? In actuality, everyone has personal beliefs that are unique.

As the current Dali Lama says, for every human we need a different religion as none of us are the same.
