I have finished recording the obelisk sounds at obelisk E1 in Solo play for today as well (and I will not be doing this again), this time the clip is 2 hours and 5 minutes long and is nearly a quarter of a gigabyte large, so just a heads up. Link to dropbox, if anyone wishes to work with the data: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5t7eelm66qxdxuc/E1_obelisk_2h5m.flac?dl=0

A lot of strings in that recording, will take me a while to look through it, if I should find anything interesting, I'll post it.

thanks! remember when a gigabyte was insanely big? I've downloaded multi-gig sound files more than once for this silly game/puzzle thing...

hehe, I mostly gave the heads up because I know a few people out there will have limited internet data - wouldn't want to burn through a good chunk of it by simply sending one clip with like 60 strings of data :p

Frontier are a bit complacent and cruel what with the bugs and very hard to read clues. But I would put my money on it the ruins are there for us to find if we persevere. :)
A good move for them would be to at least confirm the ruins ARE a puzzle which will help find the rest.

complacent and cruel... LIKE A FOX

(i'm not even sure what that means, but) Makes sense though, if FDEV went to the shareholders meeting and said HEY we're going to do content that costs a lot to produce but nobody will ever see it or talk about it! - they'd get laughed at. Instead its something very small and easy (if you don't worry too much about it working right) that has got it a lot of press.
I too think that they dropped a needle out there and they're going to just narrow us in with clues from ram tah. We could have found it instantly when the patch dropped so they aren't lying to say its possible, but statistically it's impossible. There's no sign that the Meene mission will go away until the official hint for the next sites has been out.

" For example, the glyph used to designate the moon shows the rising and falling moon as it appeared on the Guardian world."

My simple and desperate interpretation:

the ruins show exactly at the point on the horizon where the moon goes down.
And AFAIK the moon orbits directly above the ruins.

So we need to search on the planets along the orbit lines of their moons ?

I've been looking at the map in photoshop for so long, that and I'm in the point of writing and drawing profanities over it.

Now it looks like the toilet room of a high school.

For those looking at the triangular glyphs on the surface of ancient relics, here's my image from a couple of months ago when I did a bit of post-pro to try and enhance it.

This is what I'm shooting for. Pardon my butchering of terms here but I'm trying to figure out how to do the followed.

1. Get 2 coordinates as noted in my previous posts that reflects the location of the moon at 2 points relative to the parent body.

2. Using these 2 sets of coordinates get an arc of a great circle.

2. Somehow extrapolate the entire great circle. (Having trouble with this part)

3. Break it into 620 or so coordinates so we can have a flight plan that follows that path.

I'm using the current planet as a point of reference to test with since it has a known location.

Simple and easy to test :) +Rep

Update:

See now i've said that I feel like i remember the moon never appearing directly overhead :/

I think you may be right. The moon has always been on the hoeizon when I've been at the ruins.

Except right now. You made me realise the moon is not visible at all atm from the ruins.

Maybe it will point to the moon though, when it rises?

I've noticed the Moon sinks below the horizon dead center of that arrow at the ruins, but i wonder if the smaller circle to the right in the picture actually represents an orbiting moon itself in whatever position to the planet your on for some reason..?

I am also not sure about that. ( but when I was there last week it was always kind of above the ruins.. )

But I took a screenshot today of the falling moon (when looking on the ruins via "landing radar" which is worth a look in my opinion;))

How does Ram Tah know that? He knows the Guardian World? Or is he suggesting their use different glyphs on different planets?

This gave me an idea - probably stupid - but im gona draw it on paint to help me explain it and get someone here to check my logic and help me complete it. Will take me a few mins to draw....
