Well, I had a few things to do back in the bubble so I ended my expedition in a firey ball of death in the final expedition waypoint system.

Have to say, instancing hasn't been kind to me on this trip, literally haven't seen a single cmdr, except for the green icons on the galaxy map, I sincerely hope networking gets improved if there's a distant world's 2, not so much fun without the meet ups!

I echo your feelings. Rather had enough of all the instancing hassles... More pain than its worth sadly [where is it]

Found some more Geysers in NGC 2682 MCA 42, this time Water Geysers on CDE 2 a @ -39.4790 / -55.4062
I drove over one and it launched me over 1200m into the air. ( @ 1:50 )

Thanks for this heads up! I'll have a play in my SRV with the water geysers before heading to the Graveyard location at Elysium Rest for my final rendezvous with the ground ... :D

For those interested to see how high my SRV reached ... it was 3.38Km! See time index 13:43sec for when I entered the geyser jet stream...

I'll have to head to Elysium for my final resting place tomorrow evening - the game glitched and wouldn't reload without a reboot but I was uploading this video at the time :)

After hours of searching for silicate vapour geysers a system defence python crashes and is fuming...

At 18:00 Gametime on Sunday 29th January 3303, the last survivors of the Distant Stars fleet are asked to regroup for a final farewell ceremony.

There are two locations available for this historic event.

In orbit above Arcadia, the first Earth-Like World discovered in M67.

or

The Elysium's Rest giant impact basin, which is located in a system over 200 light years above the cluster and takes two J3 Jumponium jumps to reach.

You can chose where our journey ends by voting on the linked poll on the DSE discord server.

Details of both locations are as follows :

Arcadia

This would be in low orbit above the planet. The world can sustain life so would be an obvious choice for the stranded fleet survivors to set up home (role-played obviously). And would be an interesting place to return to one day when we have atmospheric landings.

Elysium's Rest
(aka Anaconda's Graveyard)

This location is over 200 LYs further out into the void, and sits high above the cluster overlooking the galaxy below. Its a very remote and haunting place that offers the chance for some last day shenanigans in SRVs and Fighters before we all press the button.

The route to Elysium's Rest:

Travel to NGC 2682 YBP 364

106.21 LY J3 Jump to HD 74926 (You may have to burn off some fuel prior to attempting this jump)
(Do not refuel on arrival at HD 74926)

102.87 LY J3 Jump to HD 76133

What's the other star near by...

AS it does not appear to be on the Gal Map...

I remloked back to Maia this morning. I had stuff to do and instancing has been a proper pain during this expedition. I did go to the final waypoint at HD 76133, meter perfected the lading at the ceremony's location and pushed that button. After changing ships, it felt good to be able to boost again!

Elysium Rest!

Having journeyed out to Elysium Rest on HD 76133 1C [23.488 / 81.934] it was time to hit the Big Red Button...

Safe Travels all who still have to make their final journeys! :p

Was a little late to today's gathering, but i was not alone.
When i jumped in to the system i followed another commander and dropped out on the planet, there another commander found us and we three landed beside etch other and i started to take pictures. We heard a honk and a forth commander landed in our row of Condas.

We all played around and took some pictures.

Later after some SRV driving and snub flying another conda joined in. It was good time spent thanx all.

(I forgot to write down the names, but those who i remember is Thudpucker and Stayla and pretty sure on Greytest but cant remember the last one (*Rastislav).)

All of the pictures, so far:

I lost my conda yesterday, trying to land on a high G planet on the search for Niobium and Arsenic...

Distant Stars ended three days earlier as expected, but it was a great fun to meet all of you out there !

o7 and fly safe

My PC went kaput for a couple days thanks to a botched update for NVIDIA GeForce Experience that caused my HDD to go haywire. Luckily I had an SSD laying around that I was planning on swapping out the HDD for. Everything done, Windows is all fresh and new, but now I gotta set everything up again. Luckily ED was installed on a separate SSD so no need to download that. Once I get Voice Attack installed and my controls configured again, I'll be back at this expedition.

The End of The Line for Booster and HMS Aquarius B

Farewell HMS Aquarius B

Unable to make the group meet-up at Base Camp 3, I took Aquarius B to the final set of coordinates of this extraordinary trip and implemented the BOOM method voted for by most Commanders.

Having driven the SRV to destruction, Aquarius B lifted off for the last time. We flew to an altitude of 20km and then shut down her ageing systems. As she fell gracefully to her demise, the ship's log played through some of the data files recorded over the past couple of weeks - and picked some Matt Monro for her to listen to as she plumetted to her final resting place.

If you look closely at the final shots you may notice CMDR Franklin Pate - newly qualified fighter pilot (Mostly Harmless) with the crew of HMS Aquarius B. Unfortunately unaware of the impending end of his short and combat free career, Franklin can be seen undertaking his final dusting of the ship - a little tradition of his before landing - just in case someone popped over for a cup of tea.

Farewell HMS Aquarius B.....it was special o7 (video here)

PS. (Plenty more letters in the alphabet ^^)

Thanks to Kaii and Erimus as always for their planning and eye to detail o7

Never gets old watching Simon kill himself, except when it's on my in windscreen :)))))))

Nice vid bud, o7 to another ships cat (poor thing)

Great video Simon, and wonderful choice of music!

I've seen quite a few commanders on this trip with the ship kits on their Anaconda's, and the more I see it in person the more I like it. I think it's my favorite ship kit except for the Vulture's kit. If I can ever learn to love flying the Anaconda I would probably buy it!

Awesome Video! I wish I could rep it 10 more times.

What video capture software are you using?

I'm sorry that I'm not going to be able to make it to the Anaconda's Graveyard tomorrow, after all. I have a hectic week coming up and today was my last chance to play in Horizons this weekend. Therefore, I made sure I had a couple of decent screenshots of the Eurydice in M67 and then made my way to the exclusion zone of the Earth-like World, where I hit the self-destruct. Here are some of the better images I managed to take:
With the loss of the Eurydice, a replacement Asp Explorer, the Orpheus, has been provided to CMDR Edelgard von Rhein by prior agreement with the insurance company. The Orpheus has two missions to undertake for the Galactic Mapping Project, one of which is quite short and which I hope to complete this week, time permitting (which isn't saying much this week). The other is an exploration of the Looking Glass Nebula, near the Froadik permit-locked region, which requires a jump in excess of 104LY to reach and plenty of jumponium to traverse its surroundings, so I will not be departing for a little while. I have some other tasks to undertake in the bubble before then...

Thanks!

Just started using Overwolf after windows 10 game capture decided to stop working. I then run the clips into iMovie and build the film from there. Takes longer than it might look to get scenes matching the music and getting the timing right (especially when you're not at all musical - hope it doesn't show too much!) Finally I like to slip a few Star Trek references in here and there, some more obvious than others

Hi Mengy - yes, a bit pricey, but I think it has some nice variations. The Conda has grown and grown on me since using it on DW3302. Definitely my ship of choice for exploration (Uhura loves it too, says she has plenty of room to get away from my "crooning tunes". As you may recall, she is more of a jazz piano fan)
