Hear bloody hear.

Imagine if all that time had been spent on making this puzzle work correctly? On making 4 different and individually interesting ruins?

Idonotmindtheruinslookingidentical.

I did hope/thing, that a different set of obelisks would light up (perhaps with some overlap) revealing new data.

And of course that they would lead to a master site where the broken obelisks would be intact.

The new site provides the same data
Are the relics the keys to unlocking more data.

Has anyone tried combinations with the assumption that each relic is unique?

Has anyone tried taking a relic from one site to another?

Agreed, if its another mistake, I'm moving to something else... I hear No Mans Sky is good (words i never wanted to say)

Astroneer is better than NMS, if only because it doesn't promise more than it delivers, and what it delivers is fun fun fun!

Here comes the moon:

Not exactly the same. But over all this distance, I'll take it!

I wonder if the different rings on the ground correspond to different moons over each ruin site.

Damn, I wish I had a better moon(rise)-shot from site 1!

Well, nothing screams "game" more than finding two identical sites, with the same exact collapsed walls/crumbled pillars.

There's no way to suspend disbelief on this one. The sites are copy/paste identical.

I think we have to accept that what we were hoping for, and what we got, are two very different things.

All that wasted tin-foil.

+1

Way to have people lose interest in searching for stuff. Come on Fdevs, you need to step up your game. How long before you realise that?

Come on you lot, quit it.

We don't have to agree with anyone's theories, we are all quite capable of deciding for ourselves if followwing up any one hypothesis over the others is a waste of our time.

If we decide any particular theory is a waste of our time, we don't have to come and crap all over it in here, it adds nothing.

If it wasn't a major feature of the thread page after page after page then I'd agree - but once someone starts spamming a crackpot theory it's open to fire. Plenty of people have wild suggestions and don't do that - it's not hard to test something yourself and not spam the thread. It's hard enough finding facts in here to start with without it being filled with alternative ones.

Until we find a third site we will have no clue as to what the geometric pattern of this network will take the shape of. This seems to be the bigger picture if you will. I am getting the impression these sites function as network hubs that will form 'wave guides' of sorts or ''Phase Arrays'. Until we get a 3rd dimension we are in 2d it seems.

It is also possible we still have not unlocked information at the sites we know so far.

What bothers me the most is the total lack of ingame tools to assist in the search for anything ingame.
I hope Fdev take a good look at the amount of complaints brought up during this and the formidine searches and get some work done on the other aspects of the game and leave combat alone for now.

At least with Formidine when you finally find the next settlement it has a ton of new lore for you to oogle at. That in itself should be enough satisfaction for most people that are bothering to look for those places.

On the other hand, with the second ruins we got an identical repeat of the first ruins. No new lore because you can't get any new data, and the structure of the ruins is exactly the same so you can't make any new theories about the lore or culture of the Guardians.

If this is a bug, it's a pretty fatal bug as I suspect for a considerable amount of people this would have killed the hype and excitement for the ruins and any future POIs of this lore arc.

I honestly feel like an idiot now knowing everything is copy+paste

No NEW data!? I was looking forward to more lore!

Wasn't that the whole point in finding new ruins? To unlock more history?

I hope to god this is a bug - otherwise I'm throwing in the towel right now and I'm not going to bother looking for the rest - because it is just madness being told my Ram Tah to look in 4 new systems with 50+ planets - only to learn IT IS ALL THE SAME!?

Wow... at least we can be sure the other 3 ruins are just copy+paste, so it MIGHT mean something else and is pointing at something else... MIGHT.

I'm going to play real life for a while, I think. :D
I don´t think so, honestly.
IMHO we got 1 more site with layout of alpha & beta site, as in solo You get 13 messages (at first ruin site, second one has to be verified yet), so my assumption is that there should be 3 sites of that type as we get 39 messages by data-bleed. that leaves two other structures for data-set 1-7 and 16-21..... maybe in the same manner.
my strong feeling is that we should find another two types of sites in the systems/planets where first type has been discovered....

Commanders, kindly direct your attention over here...

Right, me job's done :) I'm having a pesky migraine, so excuse me if I'm not available for questioning. Also it's my birthday today, so kind of a neat present for me, no?

Have fun!

Great work and happy birthday, commander!

But looking at those pics is really saddening - it seems that it is exact copypaste of previous ruins, and there is no reason to expect other ruins being any different. Thi leads to a conclusion that there is no puzzle behind ruins either... so much for all the tinfoil-hattery and wasted brain power for nothing. Thanks for spitting in the face, FDev...

Hear bloody hear.

This stuff gets into national and international news, it gets covered by the gaming press worldwide and gives substantial bumps to player numbers.

So why in all of creation is more dev time being spent on more combat additions with military slots and balance passes after balance passes on combat upgrades that have terminally imbalanced the game for those who don't want to "play their way"?

Imagine if all that time had been spent on making this puzzle work correctly? On making 4 different and individually interesting ruins?

Nah. Healing lasers. Sorry to sound a little embittered but this has been a kick in the face for my love of this game and I'm now firmly in the "I'm not sure the lead devs know what they're doing" camp.

It does make me wonder what FD are trying to do.

I must admit, I suspected that the sites would look the same.
I still suspect that each relic tower represents each system, although just can't work out how each part of that site shows what planet/moon there on. If at all it does?

I am however just a little disappointed that the new site is, it seems a copy and paste? Same fallen down walls and such like.
Just a little editing to make it feel like your in a different place? Copy and paste for such a thing is hard hitting on the immeshion.

The copypasta job on the alien ruins is a huge disappointment... not cool FD.

Tweet at FD and ask big ED streamers to join in. This is way uncool.

Sitting from more or less the same position, the moon seems to rise from approximately 208 degrees, where as the centre line from the 'key' part of the ruins appears to lie approximately long the 183 degree mark.

After all that eyeballing this is a sad result and other ruins will be like this.

Will people keep spending hours of their lives looking for other copy/pasted ruins ?

I know I won't. And I'm pretty sure most people won't bother any further.

why wouldnt nthe guardians take a standardized layout for the network? just because it doesnt fit into the many theories people made over last weeks?

i got an idea. maybe something happens if the relic towers are all activated at both sides at same time.

I'm in the middle of recording long time-lapse video from the second site at the moment so I can't test this idea and forgive me if it's already been tried.

Have with tested that the extra obelisks that activate in open/PG might be caused by the items carried by other commanders in their SRVs?
Could it be that dropping the correct items near one set obelisks causes a different obelisk than normal to become active somewhere else in the ruins?

I intend capturing 6 or more hours, depending on random server errors. Once I've finished that I'll try to test this myself assuming no one has already disproved it.
