Dammit, I see "1st discovered by" tags in NGC 2682 YPB 364. [down] Wasn't this supposed to be one-way trip...?

FD are investigating it. Seems like game support made an honest mistake and moved a bugged player out of the cluster without wiping his Cancri tags first.

Sorry I couldn't join you all for the final farewell at the Anaconda Graveyard.
I said my goodbye to Elysium on Friday. I was a fun trip and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I chose to shut off life support and was disappointed when my ship blew up anyway.

Someone claimed you'd keep your data if you use the free Sidewinder option after destruction. Is that for real or is this case the support blunder?

I thought the sidewinder exploit was fixed months ago?

From what I've been told, one player was genuinely bugged and got sent out of the cluster by game support. Not sure about the other player.

Ok, nevermind. :)

Now it's done, I'm back at Maia too. :)

I got a bit burned out with trying to locate geysers & fumaroles, had to take a few days break & rethink my survey strategy (planetside).
So, I got all my assigned planets/moons roughly surveyed and the interesting (or "interesting") places examined & recorded, but was late of the mass Journey's End.

Picked a spot on the moon "Elysium's Rest" and plummeted to my death. Only to realise I had my shields on, and didn't get destroyed! Oh well, zero pips to SYS & boost to the mountainside took care of that... :)

Oh, and I left one UA 16km above my spot.

Video later, it's well past bedtime here now.

The Sidewinder option is common for players who want an instant trip back to the bubble from Colonia.

You respawn at LHS 3447, in a stock Sidewinder. Exploration data is not saved, and you lose the full value of whatever you were flying when you suicided. But you don't have to make hundreds of jumps to get back to the bubble.

This would not have been helpful to get back from Cancri.

With the planning and effort made into constructing my lightweight Anaconda for this trip, this would still not be an option for me, not for all the exploration data in the Universe.

I Agree 100%. My Conda definitely has the advantage in jump range by a few light years, but not enough to make up for the shortfalls (my AspX is 48ly, Conda = 54ly). I'd much rather fly the AspX for the very same reasons. The great view became even more important lately with many people searching planet-side for abandoned bases in the Rift/Gap/Flux or more ancient alien ruins etc...

That being said, if the DBX had one class larger fuel scoop, and just one more size 1 internal slot, that would probably be my go-to explorer

But what about the leg room and all those over-hanging wires?!

It has been one of the most intense journeys i've had in Elite. And has been an honour to fall to death with you. Fly safe, fellow explorers. I'll see you out there in the black.

Poyéjali!!!.

Is anyone else kind of sad it’s over? This was a really great idea, I wonder if there are any other clusters like this out there, any other potential locations for a Distant Stars 2. It would be really sweet to find one that is only now accessible due to neutron jumps that might even have a way back too.

I occasionally spend time exploring the highs and lows of the galactic plane, but I just may spend a lot more time at the fringes from now on, hunting for more out of the way locations like this. Seems like that would be an excellent goal for exploration journeys.
