First Experience of Griefers

Felt like a blockade runner today at Freeport - griefer hanging around in an Anaconda no less, attacking everything that moved. Cue very fast approach and landing since I really didn't want to lose my cargo on the way in.

Waiting for me on the way out as well - again I was fully loaded, exited the station at full boost to find a mass of missiles following in my wake - well that's what Point Defense is for isn't it ??

Second trip there and two Anacondas waiting, completely fluffed up the landing, but made it intact - waited until they had some other poor sap in their sights before I left again. If there was one on the second trip I had planned to leave sans cargo and see if I could deal with the threat, but 2 ?? No chance...

Enjoyed the challenge of getting in / out although the station definitely got hit and didn't respond which was a bit of a downer.

Have to sadly admit to the same today. Just floating around Enterprise, actually AMAZED at the fact I can now RUN THE GAME! Then suddenly I was under attach from [redacted]. Not pleased. Doing "scenery" runs I had managed to accrue over 2000 creds for the first time, now I'm back down to 1300 because someone thought it would be funny to splash the sightseer.

Goid.

Nice one.;)

These are the challenges that I really like in ED. It is always possible to try yourself against seemingly impossible odds and if you succeed you will get a lot of fun and joy.

It is better to edit your post and remove CMDR name. No naming and shaming rule.

Bulley mentality.
Look at me i'm insane rich and got a max fitted anaconda with super
hull plating. watch me clubbing baby seals.
You find them everywhere i'm afraid

It is almost certainly more fun in a Cobra, since you can get out of range pretty quickly and there is nothing at the moment that will catch you. Looking to get a Lakon if/when I can afford it, not sure what I would do then? Find another station probably...

Yes, unfortunately there are quite a few people who have found out exploits and use them to grief the others. Probably, I will never understand what fun is in this. As well as what fun is there in using unfixed exploits against other players. After these exploits are fixed those players will have too learn how to fight the fair way and not all of them are capable of this.

There is - another Cobra. ;)

Unfortunately, there were reports of griefers at Bootis and Azeban. So they actually might appear anywhere. In this case it is better to change the server.

Have no problem with the actions of players like that. It's an adrenaline rush, and makes a good story if you can manage to win the moment and live. It's just too bad the game rules aren't tightened just yet, as why would a station put up with that outside their front door? Where's the Vipers when you need them? But outside the no fire zone, yeah, blockades and running them sounds like something to plan for. It does say Anarchy system, after all.

I haven't bothered to play the last few days, it just isn't fun with those people hanging around. Might have a go in the wee early hours of the morning.

I noticed when America sleeps the game is a lot more laid back and fun. But that means staying up late since I'm on the west coast.

Actually, us Americans have been discussing in Teamspeak that when the Brits are asleep, we don't see or encounter the griefers.

In reality, they're all over every time zone though.

It seemed pretty quiet the last hour or so, but I guess that is the instancing. Plenty of players around, but no shooting at players going on that I saw. I did hear the station defences go off twice while I was looking at the trade menu.

I haven't had any interdictions at all since the last patch, don't know if that is just coincidence.

Are there any counter measures you can use? Things like ECM Jammers to slow down target locking for missiles or tracking disrupters to mess up their aim etc? Maybe a bonus for how effective they are - small ship against larger, powerful ships..

You do realise that Freeport is an Anarchy zone and we are all just testing the game?

Ya it sucks, and doing any site now with 2-3 other people with everyone trying to last hit sucks.

There is a reason that MMO's removed the last hit mechanic from their games. It a crap mechanic.

Which is why I have no interest in Multiplayer...Only Interested in the single player aspects.

This. I stopped playing weeks ago. Was killed 3 times in one session trying to learn the game. Once trying to land in a station, once approaching a station, and another time just flying near a station trying to figure out where to go. No attempt to steal my cargo and I had no bounty on me. Figured it's part of the game...no point crying. So I set it aside and will go in again when single player is possible.

I've been playing since December and haven't ever been a target for NPC morons... Just lucky ?

Am pretty well kitted out myself now, so would actually quite like to see the, try

I teach kids for a living so would be happy to teach these kids a lesson in my spare time!

:p

There is a difference between testing the game and acting like a complete selfish *********, I managed to run past the idiot(s) twice, quite a few others would have lost their cargo and against Anacondas there is little chance of fightback...

Just experienced it myself.

flew to Chango Dock with a full cargo hold. Just trying to make a headway into making money. Requested docking, flew towards station. Just reached the cow catcher, when I get [INCOMING MISSILE], then explosion.

FYI, i'm in a noob-sidewinder.

I'm in a No-Fire area so I cant even defend myself, even if I had time to.

This is pure griefing and is putting people off the game.

Also, I completely forgot to CAD out to retain my save. so i'm back to no money.
Oh well, back to the grindstone!
