Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS Controller - First Impressions

the 12 buttons on the schtick are annoying and use maybe two of them and would have liked more buttons on top and some on the throttle. Other than that it is an awesome schtick. Excellent precision, good ergonomics, and very nice level of resistance.

I have 6 of the green T16000000ms one of them completely shorted out while playing ED so i am down to 5 working ones. Quality products but I am going to wait till another one stops working before I get the new orange T160000ms I have to get 2 for dual sticks.

I had to open the 16000M and cut a wire to stop the *** light going on and off.

Using Logitech Extreme 3D Pro right now and a CH Pro Throttle when needed.

I thought this would bother me and normally that kind of thing REALLY bothers me. But now I don't notice it.

The hats are all digital, but there is an analogue stick (which also has a button press) on the front of the throttle, basically under the index finger.

I use that for vertical and lateral thrust, although I needed to set a deadzone in the game controls for that to work reliably.

Yeah, I've taken hull damage due to that analogue stick due to a weird issue I have with the computer thinking it was pushed down whilst actually centred. For some reason, the problem seems to sort itself out if I move the throttle back and forth a couple of times.

I'd used the T16000m for some years, but this was the first separate throttle I've used. It's nice for IL-2 as well.

Also, on the note of the LED, the orange one on the new stick is not as bright or annoying as the green LED on the older sticks.

I'll echo enexemander, I set the throttle to full reverse/forward range with a small dead zone. You get used to it, and I like it better than using the forward/reverse toggle, especially for vr.

After following Truesilver's path to circle strafing I rarely use the throttle in normal space.

I have the paddle axis (on the throttle) bound to forward and backwards thrust with the throttle only set for forward full range. So in combat the throttle is pushed all the way forward* (at zero) and I just use the paddles. Of course if I want to transit a distance I'll use the throttle and it's used in super cruise. But using this setup I have never found the need for a reverse modifier.

* So my original config was pushed forward the throttle was at max but with this I found in the heat of combat I couldn't keep from pushing forward from zero and this would smother what i was trying to do with the paddles. So i had to swap it around... that was fun for a while ;)

The hotas is "Temporary out of stock" on Amazon, does anyone know when it might be for sale by amazon again? since the Beach Audio retailer there looks kinda shady

You can buy them separately, in stock, however it will cost you more than the pack. There is also the flight pack, costs more again but includes the pedals too.

Thanks for the review. Definitely considering adding the throttle to my T16000 joystick at some point this year.

The led in joystick base really annoyed me. There are instructions out there to open it up and snip the cable to the led. It's pretty straightforward, I seem to recall, if slightly nerve-racking. :)

It's easy - best mod ever.

I wish they had redesigned the T16000 to have more buttons on the stick, but they cheated...

the Throttle looks good though, and probably an excellent alternative to a CH Pro throttle, not to mention the only alternative...

Z...
