I like a bit of scruffy, but last month kicking around the Pleiades scanning Thargoids I got so worn that you couldn't see the decals.
Had to have a respray.
When you're a diplomat, folks need to know who you represent.

uhm, n00b question here, how do you adjust your camera so you can take a look at your ship wholly?

Bind a key to "classified camera toggle" under miscellaneous controls (not sure if/what it is bound to by default) and you can move an external camera around using your normal flight controls.

Ah, so that's what the 'classified camera' are for. thanks!
On topic, I voted first one because it's funny and I usually repaint my newly-acquired python. And then I saw the pics here and it's kinda cool :D

I never used to until I noticed that the wear and tear is mirrored on both sides of the ship, and that drives me nuts.

A while back when we lost the paint tear and wear, I was one of those who wanted to have it back.
Now that we have it, I'm not going to repair it...

Clipper with 10% paintwork, looks more like 60% to me:

My cutter on the otherhand is down to about 95% and not a scratch on it visually, I'm starting to doubt whether the paint wears on the Cutter or not.
Anyone have an image of a worn paintjob on a Cutter and the wear percentage?

The Cutter looks very worn once you reach a low percentage. But the threshold where wear becomes obvious seems lower than on most ships. I rather like it.

Keep an eye on your C3 hardpoint covers to see the first hints of wear appearing.

What's this paint you speak of? I thought that was some packing film that was supposed to peel off when you got your ship from the showroom. :D

The Cutter looks like its made of carbon fibre underneath the sleek white.

My ships get a re-paint when I accidentally authorise a 'repair all' job and the maintenance guys get a bit overexcited. Every once in a while.

I voted "repair with integrity".

As an explorer, I've often been out for weeks or months on end. When you're out there that long, you lose integrity. But you can't see your integrity loss unless you're landed at a station. Fortunately, paintwork and integrity degrade at the same rate (1% per 100,000 Ls in Supercruise) so if you learn what your ship looks like at various paint degradation levels, you can get a pretty good visual basis for how bad your integrity is. But it only works if you repair them both at the same time.

That makes sense, I'll have to keep an eye out to see what percentage the wear starts appearing visually.

Well at least I know where to look from now on. Thanks.
Not a scratch yet and I been flying it for the last week or so, seems to be wearing really slow - compared to other ships.

I can't +1 you helpful lot just yet, but I'll be back when I can.

Flying in asteroid fields used to destroy paint jobs in a couple hours and smear dirt all over everything. It was glorious.

No more though. Selling ship skins is more important than adding touches of realism to the game.
Oh man, ED had that!? That's fraggin' awesome. The hell happened?

I wish paint wore out much quicker. And began to degrade at 90%.

Is it true that when your paint percentage is near zero, and you change skins it looks new again? .........even though the percentage in the repair screen I s still near zero.
