Skins and decals load UNDER the wear.
So you can change skins but keep the wear.

And it's supercruise that wears you down so do the long hauls.

I take care of my ship. I never let wear and tear get below 95 percent unless I just happen to run into a string of outposts that don't have repair facilities. Paint's the same for me. A clean, nice looking, well maintained ship is a happy ship.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I used to repair it all the time, but honestly I don't know why. I guess because my character is an Imperial, and they are pretty concerned with aesthetics. Lol.

Depends on which ship. Anything with a smooth and sleek Black Friday paintjob, or my luxury-liner Orca, always get repaired every time. Everything else looks better with wear.

Generally speaking, I tend to try to keep my ships in prime condition. At least when they look well worn, they do so for a good reason (e.g. been out in the black for a long time or been engaged in heavy conflict).

I turned my iClip into a miner but it gets repaired because the aesthetic demands it.

My CIII on the other hand looks like I bought it during the original production run. >__> I'd actually prefer my 0% to look even scruffier than this. I want external port smears, scorch marks and everything.

EDIT: AND WHAT ARE THOSE SIDECHUNKS MADE FROM THEY DO NOT SCUFF ;______; That's even more noticeable with some of the ricekit; it wears very poorly if at all.

No offense intended, but what a hunk of junk. I know it's really not, but it sure looks that way.

Depends on the ship. My combat ships paint gets repaired every time I dock because I want to look my best as I fire beam lasers through your eyeballs. My smugglers get repaired because when I cross the mailslot doing 350 I think a pristine paintjob adds a certain sense of élan. My explorers get repainted when I return from a long trip but otherwise I see their wear and tear as a reminder of what they've been through.

If this thread proves anything, it is that we need Rustbucket paintjobs available in the store.

That would be so cool, especially if they looked extra scruffy with a bit of wear.

My CMDR is mostly a lowlife smuggler, miner, and mercenary, so scruffy he is. He does dabble in some legit trade, so has a shiny ship or two for this, those I keep the paint in decent repair.

But my Asp is, or at least was, the scruffiest of all my ships. I left it AFK for an hour or so and knocked it down to 45%. Might do this again later.

Keep an eye on your C3 hardpoint covers to see the first hints of wear appearing.

Right you were. After getting tangled up with an NPC Anaconda, I expected battle scars, scratches and a lot of paint missing.
Instead paintwork down to 89% and signs of wear starting to appear where you said they would:

It would be nice if the scraping through the toaster rack reflected on paint wear, if that was the case, I'd barely have any left.
